Wow, time flies. Yesterday, I was watching Mahadev serial on Hulu. I didn't know the reason why Mahadev put bhasam on his body. Bhasam is what is left of this body. Nothing is permanent in life. Har Har Mahadev 🙏🙏

I want to thank Ms. Linda Murphy to organize a voter reach out event in South Colonie yesterday night. Voters were from diverse background Republicans and Democrats. Even though the voters were outside of her election district, Linda still took time to provide this valuble outreach platform. I was very happy and thankful to meet folks as I am a natural people's person. I did provide a question and answer session. I also want to thank Ms. Elle to allow her home as a venue place. I have lived with a motto:

“integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching”

Thank you from the bottom of my heart🙏🙏

Please see the flyers:

Please vote for Aseem on Line A or Line E.

"Aseem Kumar is a member of the Independence Party. He’s a candidate with an inspiring life story and unique qualifications — that’s why he’s running with the support of the Democratic Party and the newly formed, nonpartisan No Party movement.

Aseem Kumar arrived in the United States with just twenty dollars in his pocket and a haunting memory of the world’s deadliest industrial catastrophe. Back in 1984, a Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India, released a toxic pesticide, resulting in the immediate loss of over 2000 lives and the subsequent deaths of thousands more. This tragedy served as an extreme example of both governmental and corporate failures. In 1989, Aseem brought with him a vital lesson from India to America: Always ask questions; take nothing for granted; and do your job.

Aseem, now an environmental engineer working for the Department of Environmental Conservation, remains deeply concerned about the impact of Colonie’s growth on our water, air quality, traffic, and open spaces. His remarkable strength lies in his empathetic nature, as he demonstrates a sincere willingness to listen and understand the experiences of others. Over the years, Aseem has actively participated in the Shaker PTA, coached soccer, served as a scout leader, and held a position on the Executive Board of the Public Employees Federation. His decision to run for the Town Board stems from a desire to contribute even more to the betterment of Colonie beyond what he has already given."

Happy Columbus Day to all my friends.

Christopher Columbus’ courageous voyage was instrumental and lead to initiation over 500 years of immigration to the Americas by people from every corner of the Earth— all of whom were seeking a better life for their families.

For this reason, Columbus should be remembered and celebrated not just by Italian Americans but by all Americans.

Business and expedite inspections
I met a young man who is an entrepreneur and runs multiple businesses in different towns in the capital district area while he is a resident in the Town of Colonie. When I asked him what he would like to see changed in the Town of Colonie to improve further business environment, he said that while he loves living in town, he would like to see expedited business approval. Less time for run of the mill business ventures will allow the cost of starting a business goes down.

Federal Funds Rate - 62 Year Historical Chart 22/09/2023

Fiscal Intelligence

Today, I met Angelo, whose story reminded me of the importance of thinking on your feet. Many years ago, Andrew was a college student. When he was at the bank one time, he noticed that the bank was giving 12% interest on deposited money. But at the same time, the bank was charging only 7% interest on student loans. Angelo took a student loan and deposited this money in his personal account while pocketing the difference. He wasn't an accounting major, yet he had the street smarts to take advantage of this opportunity. It's a lesson to all of us to both be fiscally smart while also taking advantage of the opportunities that all of us get in life!

Federal Funds Rate - 62 Year Historical Chart Shows the daily level of the federal funds rate back to 1954. The fed funds rate is the interest rate at which depository institutions (banks and credit unions) lend reserve balances to other depository institutions overnight, on an uncollateralized basis. Today, I met Frederick, who is a registered Republican. As I greeted him and introduced myself, he politely told me he has never voted for a Democratic candidate ever. I told him that I have been a registered Independent since 1997, after I became a citizen. He asked me for my opinions on fiscal responsibility. I was proud to tell him that when I first came to this country I had to work three jobs in order to survive. I understand the worth of a dollar, and want to eliminate government waste as much as possible because I don't want to see the government needlessly take away money from the people. Frederick nodded in agreement, and told me that he would be willing to support me based on my views

Positive side of volunteering

This past saturday, I was very lucky to have participated in a Adopt a Road side cleaning effort carried out by Albany Hindu Temple on Albany Shaker Road next to Hindu Temple. Albany Hindu temple volunteers cleans portion of the road twice every year. Research also has shown that volunteering leads to lower rates of depression and anxiety. Volunteering reduces stress and increases positive, relaxed feelings by releasing dopamine. Volunteers are : Anand Bojja, Amritesh Singh Sisodia, Ashish Yojna Jain Suresh Bhate, Lavanya, Jayashree Ganesh , Janki Ram, Kailash Jain and I. I look forward to participating in other meaningful projects.

911 Memories of courage and bravery.

“I still have the shoes I wore to work that day. The soles are melted, and they’re caked in ash. I keep them in a shoebox with the word ‘deliverance’ written all around it. They’re kind of like my ark, a reminder of God’s presence and the life I owe to him.”
Stanley Praimnath, 9/11 survivor.

Never forget," "always in our hearts," and "God bless."

"I do"

Yesterday the gentleman, who greeted me at his door, was a retired postmaster and mail superintendent. He loves to travel to Florida in winter, but not anymore. He says that now he really understands the meaning of the word "I do" when he takes care of his wife in his old age. I can see in this community that love is often shown by action and not simply by empty words.

The 300th Neighborhood

Today, I knocked on the door of a house in the 300th neighborhood I've gone to in Colonie this year. The resident who opened the door said he would only vote for someone fiscally responsible. I told him that I came to this country with only $20 in my pocket. I know what the meaning of a dollar is, and you will not find a more fiscally responsible councilman than me. I have lived my life according to these 3 mantras given to me by my parents:

1. Work hard, no matter what it takes. Work 3 jobs even if you have to in order to make it.

2. Live within your means. Do not spend more than what you make.

3. Respect credit limits and learn the difference between needs and wants. Make sure you have the resources to pay for your needs, and never use credit to pay for your wants.

As I walked off, I knew I had displayed my fiscally responsibility, and hopefully forged a bond where none had existed before.

This post show that I am one of you. I will do in my power what is best for town of colonie resident. I am proud of my wife, Nilam Kumar, She is the person who has been behind all of my success. It is thanks to her that I am the person that I am today. 35 years ago, I met my wife Neelam for the first time. We only met for an hour and got married within 2 months since our families had arranged the marriage. Since then our love has blossomed and she has been not only become a wonderful partner but my best friend. She has stayed with me in the most difficult times of my life when we have no money and though sickness and health. She has done so much for raising two kids, taking care of households, and still maintaining a job. Our family would not have survived and flourished without her since she is the main person who was always shouldering more responsibility at home than I did. I want to celebrate her as my true love since I am so grateful for her support. God bless her and love her always.

Serving the Public Good

Today, I met Joe while walking around town. As we were speaking, Joe asked me if I had raised any money from special interest groups. He expressed concern that many government officials are beholden to interest groups at the expense of what is good for society. I told him that I have raised money only from family and friends, and that I have taken no money from any special interest groups. He liked my answer, since the government exists not to help specific individuals or groups, but to serve the public good.

This week, I met Mike S. He told me the story of how his Italian grandfather first immigrated to the US from Brazil. His grandfather started out as a blacksmith in an Indian reservation and through hard work, slowly worked his way into financial stability. That economic success has been passed down through generations to Mike and his brother, who have done well themselves and remain proud Americans. His family's life story is another great American success story like mine. We all give our thanks to the greatness of the United States!

Yesterday, I had a privilege to meet Dr. James, who is a renowned plastic surgeon. He is a proud graduate of Holy Cross. He and his wife volunteered lot of hours to do reconstruction surgeries such as cleft nose reconstruction in Central America. It fills me with great joy to see people within our community who dedicate their life for others.

"A veteran - Tusen Takk"

I knocked at the home of a US Army veteran who proudly displays his Veteran signs outside his home. The gentleman opened the door and greeted me. I told him about how my wife and I came to this country with only $20 in our pocket. He smiled and told me about his own immigrant roots. He fondly remembered his elder brother, who sadly passed away in World War II while serving our great nation. I thanked him for the sacrifices that he and his family made for our country.

During his lifetime, this veteran learned 4 languages fluently: English, Norwegian, Japanese, and Korean. As I began to leave, he said "Tusen Takk". He said that it means 1000s of thanks in Norwegian, and he expressed his support for my candidacy. As I left, I smiled at the knowledge that I've gained one more friend who believes in both our diversity and the exceptionalism of our beloved America.

First responder and their community work

Imagine a 30 inch snow storm is passing through our area and NY state has ordered people to stay at home. Now what happens if a space heater starts a fire and the family calls in panic 911. Police, fireman and first responders still must rush through even in this natural disaster. They put their life at risk. That is why I support them.

When I knocked at a first responder’s house this afternoon, he asked me why I support them. It’s because they put the needs of our community their own. Day in day out we hear stories of how they help no matter the climate or what time.
