We're looking for information about a hit-and-run accident that happened on Saturday, July 20th around 5 p.m. on Southbound US-23 south of Highland Rd.
A gray small compact sedan was travelling on US-23 and attempted to pass on the left shoulder. A pickup truck pulling a travel trailer was Southbound in the left lane and tried to merge into the right lane to avoid the sedan when it swerved into the left lane and hit the front driver of the pickup truck. The truck lost control and rolled down the right side embankment while the sedan continued down US-23 and didn't stop at the crash site.
The occupants of the pickup were a family of four returning from a camping trip. They had minor injuries and were released at the scene by Livingston County EMS.
If you have any information about the crash, please contact Deputy Uzoni at (517) 546-4842.
Our condolences go out to the Melvindale Police Department and the family of the officer who was killed earlier today.
Please keep an eye out for the suspect pictured below.
Our thoughts are with the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office. One of their own was killed in the line of duty tonight. We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the fallen deputy, and they are in our prayers ๐ ๐
