A beautiful hotel on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala was full of museum quality treasures!
Scenes from Bhutan - a monk in his garden with an amazing wisteria plant. A family dressed for a festival though most people wore elegant, colorful dress every day. A gorgeous statue that welcomed us and Yeshi our super joyful and enthusiastic guide….he was tops! He and his wife Lhamo head Alti Bhutan Travels.
A dream come true … I visited Bhutan the Land of the Thunder Dragon and Happiness that I have longed to see since I was a teen! It was fabulous! The new airport was stunning. Filled with spectacular works of art and beautifully carved and decorated wood work!

Thurs., July 6 - Early Birds – If you arrive July 6, the day before the tour begins (leave the US on July 5) we can a reserve a room for you at our Bratislava Hotel and’also can arrange transport for tour goers who arrive at Vienna airport to our hotel. We have a festive dinner planned at a super Slovak restaurant. Both early bird hotel and dinner are optional. Hotel stay includes a lavish buffet breakfast. (Bratislava, capital, Crowne Plaza Hotel across from the Presidential Palace)
Fri., July 7 - Our Treasures of Slovakia Tour begins at 9:00 am. Travel scenic roads to glorious Bojnice Castle, Slovakia's most photographed fairy-tale castle. Festive welcome party with Slovak champagne. Banska Bystrica, heart of Slovakia. (2 nights - Banska Bystrica, central Slovakia) Hotel Urpin, steps from the famed main square. Welcome Dinner!
Sat., July 8 - Guided tour of Banska Bystrica’s gorgeous square, considered the loveliest in Slovakia. Time to visit the local market for fruit, flowers and nuts..climb the quaint leaning tower and visit the War Museum in the shape of a Slovak shepherd's hat. On to magical Detva Folk Festival to hear Slovakia’s unique Fujara, see thousands in folk dress, enjoy the spirited dancing and cimbal music, browse the local crafts fair and sample local delights. Dinner in the historic square.
Sun., July 9 – Time for church before we depart for historic Kezmarok under the majestic High Tatra Mountains. We'll enjoy the streets filled with craft demonstrations and treasures for sale at the largest International Crafts Festival in Europe, 100 plus exhibitors, folk dancing, a medieval parade, and local foods. Dinner includes a Slovak Party as we enjoy villagers presenting music, dance and wedding customs of eastern Slovakia. Bring your dancing shoes! (3 nights in North Eastern Slovakia... Mon., July 10 - Travel into remote, beautiful Zamagurie to Stara Lubovna’s outdoor museum – the homes depict birth, wedding, death and holiday customs. Take a unique raft ride on the scenic Dunajec River in Pieniny National Park and step into Poland. Raft drivers tell legends. Visit the Litmanova Pilgrimage site and end with a festive Goral picnic and local food and lively tunes.
Tues., July 11 - Everyone loves walled, medieval Levoca with its historic buildings, Master Paul’s statues and old legends. We’ll tour grand St. Jakub’s Cathedral with a dozen carved & painted altars from the late 1500s. Explore Spis Castle, the largest Gothic ruin in Europe and/or take a mini-hike to see butterflies/ mountain flowers. Feast on local gulas and dance with vibrant villagers at a Rusyn wedding. Experience the warmth of Slovak hospitality!
Wed. July 12 - We head east to charming Presov to marvel at the Greek Catholic Cathedral with icons galore. Time to explore the historic square, the beautiful Catholic Cathedral and/or the superb local museum. July 12 continued Marvel at grand St. Elizabeth’s Cathedral, and be delighted with the famed Singing Fountain and more. Enjoy a special dinner and then enjoy the night lights of Old Kosice! 2 nights in Kosice (ABOV) at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel.
Thurs., July 13 - To Bardejov, the Pearl of Saris, Slovakia’s other walled town and a UNESCO Treasure. Tour the historic square and magnificent St. Egidius Church. Enjoy the unique icon museum. Find out why the statue atop town hall moons the mayor's office. Visit an ancient onion-domed wooden Rusyn church with icons and stories galore. Then on to a most amazing village church with all kinds of treasures and a most unusual chapel. Dinner at a local restaurant in Bardejov.
Fri., July 14 – A drive through spectacular scenery. We head west and follow the mighty Vah River on a castle -studded ride. Visit the stunning Bethlehem, a Nativity that focuses on Slovak village life and history, then charming Cicmany to marvel at the log homes decorated with ancient motifs. We’ll party, dine and dance in Krakovany where a folk group performs western Slovak village wedding customs just for us. (2 nights in Bratislava, southwestern Slovakia at the Crowne Plaza Hotel across from the Presidential Palace)
Sat., July 15 - Immerse in Slovakia's famed capital...Bratislava is the only capital in the world that abuts two other countries, Austria and Hungary. See the charming Old Town with a local guide to learn the history and legends; time to shop...so many souvenir stores and stands, antique shops and boutiques, cathedrals and charming cafes and pastry shops. Festive farewell dinner in a quaint village inn plus a wine tasting of local specialties- a joyful ending to our 31st Treasures Tour!

Day 5... Today short drive (130 miles) from Kotor Montenegro to Kruje Albania. We made it in great time under 7 hours! Short stop to admire the Sv. Stefan resort. Following the Adriatic coastline and Specialty dinner at our destination Hotel Panorama.

Fri., July 1 Scenic ride to Thessaloniki Greece and sightseeing of the vibrant life on famed Aristotelous Square with flower-filled cafes and ancient icon-filled churches. Festive Farewell Dinner on the water with exotic delights!

June 30 - Ohrid is famed for having 360 churches/chapels – one for every day of the year! Lots of picturesque homes and glorious flowers in a tropical setting. Our guide will lead us to magnificent Sveti Naum Monastery dating from the 900s with icons everywhere and a photo opp - sit in a Hellenistic amphitheater dating from 200 B.C. This is a great opportunity to buy charming handmade and very inexpensive jewelry featuring shells from Lake Ohrid.
