A prime example of one of MANY replacement window ads advocating for a perfectly good historic wood window to be thrown into a landfill. These sash pictured below have absolutely zero rot and are perfect candidates for restoration. Even rotted parts on these historic windows can be replaced.

Replacement companies want you to fall victim to the replacement rat race. They know that if a pane of glass breaks, they get to sell you an entirely new sash. They know that when the seal on the double pane glass fails, they get to sell you a new sash. They know that eventually, the vinyl, wood clad or aluminum will start to fail because of heat or moisture and they get to sell you an entirely new window. Many times the warranties won't cover these situations and they typically don't cover the labor costs for the return trips at all.

Remember that your historic wood windows are still here after a century for a reason. These were designed in a way to be fixed, not replaced. The greenest option is to keep what you've got! Efficiency can always be improved with weatherstripping and/or storm windows. Choose restoration!

Do you have historic wood windows, but they are all either painted shut or extremely drafty and leaky? Or maybe your historic windows were removed at some point in the past and vinyl or aluminum replacement windows were put in. Let us show you the potential and beauty of historic wood windows!

Double hung wood windows can be restored to original and complete functionality. Our restoration work is fully custom and comprehensive with features including new sash cord or chain, replacement counterweights, reproduction or restored hardware, as well as spring bronze and StopGap weatherstripping.

The utmost care is always taken during restoration, including the removal, cleaning and reinstallation of your antique wavy glass. We do everything possible to preserve and reuse all existing parts and pieces. When individual parts or even entire windows are beyond repair, reproductions crafted will be historically accurate including mortise and tenon joinery.

To set up an appointment to discuss your historic windows (or lack thereof), please contact us at [email protected] or 682-367-9621

This is something we commonly see when removing replacement windows to revert back to the original wood design. These replacement windows are not designed to last and be repaired. These panels fail and the entire window unit needs to be replaced.

Historic wood windows need periodic painting, glazing and some love and care, but they were designed in a way to last for decades. Every single part can be individually replaced.

For those that are concerned with insulation, consider restoration and storm windows instead of joining the rat race in the replacement window world.

Who knows what this is?
This, my friends, is an 8-year old IGU (Insulated Glass Unit) otherwise known as double-pane glass.
THIS is why I despise replacement windows!
The seals on this glass fail so quickly by fogging or some other weirdness like this that homeowners need to replace their windows every 7-15 years and get caught in a replacement trap!
You know why they call them “replacement” windows? Because you have to replace them all the time.

We could not be more proud of a project than this 4 window casement job. Casement windows are a different beast all their own with unique challenges that you won't encounter with double hung windows. These are all custom milled reproduction 8 lite sash to replace the original sash that were too far gone.

These 8x8 casements are fully functional and come complete with all of the original hardware restored, as well as a few reproduction pieces for additional security. Functional, weatherstripped, airtight and beautiful for generations to come!

We don't only do historic homes. Custom jobs let us be creative and innovative. A little throwback of a design we completed last year for a friend of ours!

This awning window and bar combination allows for fresh air and easy serving from the kitchen to the patio by the pool. Operates and designed exactly as a historical window would, but with some added modern flair!

We are so honored to have some of our window restorations featured in the progress house at the Candlelight Christmas Tour in Ryan Place!

All five front double hung windows and the two front dormer windows have been fully restored to their original intended functional state at 2740 Willing.

The homeowner and tour guides will be present and happy to give a demonstration of how these windows work and what some of the windows looked like before restoration began.

With all this fluctuating weather in North Texas, you will likely see condensation building up on the interior of your windows as shown below. This is completely normal with single pane glass. Just make sure that any excess pooling is dried off and that the moisture is not trapped behind any blinds or curtains all day.

Tips for cutting down on condensation:
1. Exterior storm windows (wood or aluminum)
2. A well constructed interior storm window
3. Dehumidifiers
