The importance of a commonplace book - a good idea for us all. Oakdale's Rhetoric School students were each given a commonplace book to start this discipline this week. Are you ready for this adventure?

In another election cycle, we often wonder about the direction of our country. It is safe to say that the education of our youth as to our founding principles and values is of prime importance.
If you are looking for an education for your children that reflects that and brings the Truth of Jesus Christ to bear as the lens through which everything is viewed, consider Oakdale Academy. We have openings in grades PreK - 12th.
Oakdale Academy is hosting an admission open house on August 8 @ 6:30 p.m. Click on www.oakdaleacademy.com to learn more or email is at [email protected]
How do we think through what happened in this charged political world we occupy? What to tell our students in the fall? How should we move forward?
Reaction to July 13, 2024 I am a history teacher by training and experience. Over my years teaching the important dates of history, I would tell my students there are certain dates that should be part of our common memory – 1066, 1215, July 4, 1776, December 7, 1941, etc. One of my history professors called dates such as t...

A signer of the Declaration of Independence, our first ambassador to Great Britain, the first Vice President, and second President of the United States, John Adams noted how our people would celebrate Independence Day: with “solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty…with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other.”
God Bless America!
Happy Independence Day!

80 years ago today, Allied forces began the invasion of Hitler’s occupied France.
We honor the daring bravery and uncommon valor on the beaches, in the seas, and in the air over Normandy that fateful day.
Originally called Decoration Day, we as a nation pause today and remember those who have given "the last full measure of devotion."
May we echo in our hearts President Lincoln's words in his 1864 letter to Mrs. Bixby:
Executive Mansion,
Washington, Nov. 21, 1864.
Dear Madam,--
I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle.
I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln
As we go into summer, we offer our daily closing prayer in thanksgiving for a year of growth in understanding of character, truth, and wisdom along with those things that are good, true, and beautiful.
Almighty God, we give You thanks for this day and all we have learned as we seek to serve You.
As we leave this place, may we be a beacon of light in our homes and spread Your Truth, Goodness, and Beauty in our thoughts, words, and deeds.
Bless all of us and grant that our humility of heart will continue away from here as we look to You, Who are the fountain of all wisdom, through our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Well done to our recent alum on their annual senior prank!
