Tuesdays are for answering frequently asked questions about trucking!
Q: What is the difference between interstate and intrastate authority?
A: Interstate authority allows a motor carrier to operate in multiple states and engage in the transportation of goods across state lines. Intrastate authority allows a motor carrier to operate solely within the boundaries of a specific state. They are not authorized to engage in interstate commerce.

Tuesdays are for trucking tips!
*Stay Focused and Avoid Distracted Driving*
Texting is a significant distraction when behind the wheel. It is against the law for a CMV driver to text while driving, and mobile phones must be hands-free, dialed using no more than one button. Engaging in activities such as eating, drinking, using a navigational device, reading maps, or anything else that diverts attention from the road can be equally distracting. If you must address a non-driving activity, it's advisable to exit the highway or pull over – the safety risk is not worth taking.

Happy trucking FAQ Tuesday!
Q: What is the difference between primary liability and non-trucking liability?
A: Primary Liability Coverage is focused on protecting against liabilities arising from commercial trucking operations, while Non-Trucking Liability (Bobtail Insurance) covers liabilities during non-business use, providing coverage during personal or non-commercial driving. Both coverages are essential to ensure comprehensive protection for truck drivers and their vehicles.

Our Story
We would like to start by thanking you for your business. We know there are many options when it comes to choosing who to entrust with protecting your business and assets. We are grateful you have selected our team and are confident we will earn your trust as our relationship grows throughout the years.
We would like to introduce you to our agency and its legacy, the owners, our community involvement, and most importantly, to some of the team on a more personal level. By doing so, we hope that you will come to know us as more than your agent, but also a member of the family.
Norven W. Storrs had started out in the industry by selling life and health insurance with his father in 1969. A few years later, Norven decided that he wanted to give the property and casualty side of the business a try and founded his own agency in 1973. Norven was immediately drawn to the commercial side of the industry, and this has been the agency’s focal point ever since. We began operating under the name The Insurance Store in 1978, and over the years our customers have come to know us as many different names including Windmill Insurance, Daggett Insurance, Coastline Insurance, The General Store, Norven W. Storrs and several others.
Over the years, Norven earned the insured’s trust and loyalty through giving the highest level of service, commitment, friendship, and expertise in the industry. In May of 2009, Norven passed away due to health complications.
After Norven’s passing, his wife Cheryl Storrs took over the day to day operations of the business. Although she was met with many challenges due to the failing economy that we all suffered through, she showed courage and determination to make sure the life of the agency and ultimately Norven’s life work lived on.
In 2015 the agency was purchased by Brent and Tiffani Storrs Thunstrom, and the second generation of ownership was born. Storrs Insurance Group, Inc doing business as The Insurance Store is who we are today and our goal is to continue providing the same high level of service to our insureds and to continue to honor Norven and Cheryl’s legacy.
Today The Insurance Store has several locations with staff ready to serve you. We function as a team and will do our best to serve all of your business insurance needs as well as your personal insurance needs. As an independent brokerage, we have the ability to shop your insurance around with just about every insurance carrier available. Our goal is to partner you up with coverage and a carrier that is right for you. Our objective is to give you the best opportunity to have a thriving business.
