Sharing as a reminder to parents, caregivers, and professionals that we all can accept our children with ASD, mood disorders, ADHD, cognitive/psychological conditions. Once they have ability to advocate for themselves, support them as they are finding their footing in this world!

Life-affirming care is life-saving care!

[Image Description:

On a beige background is and image split into three boxes much like a comic. In this comic the first of the three images is a mother hiding her baby in the air. She smiles and looks at the child with a deep love and sense of pride and says the words "I named you because you didn't have a voice" the mother has long flowing wild hair where's the transparent top and blue jeans.

The baby wears a green onesie with white polka dots. In the next image we see the mother with the child from before who has grown a bit. The child appears to be anywhere from 10 to their early teens. The mother where's a red blouse with gray pants and she holds the child close in a warm hug has the child does the same.

The child wears a tank top that is blue, pink, white, and pink in the pattern. They have long hair like their mother and leans their head on their mother's chest. The colors of the child shirt indicate that they are likely transgender as it is the color of the transgender flag.

In this scene the mother says "now that you have found your voice, it is for you to tell the world who you are" showing that as her growing child changes she has come to accept the child for their truest self in their identity and orientation, and as they are. The bottom of the image is captioned with the words "accept your kids for who they really are, not for who you want them to be"

Side note from the writer of this image description* I have taken the liberty of using gender neutral pronouns for the child in this image. The reason for this is we do not know the child's pronouns and it's always good not to assume. In this image we see a mother accepting their child for the way they are, and loving them the way they are something that is needed so much in this world.]

Humans are ever evolving and learning.

Thanks to research and theories of development of the likes of Freud's Psychosexual Perspective, Eriksson's Psychosocial Perspective, Piaget's Cognitive-Developmental Theory, Vygotsky's Socio-cultural Theory, Pavlov's Behavioral Theory, and Skinner's Social Learning Theory we have come to know the 8 major stages of development across a life-span.

Each stage has a set of characteristics that a human - regardless of abilities -is most likely to experience and/or display.

Did you know that verbal behavior does not mean ability to speak?

This video is a great example of using responder-listener basics (i.e. echoic), visual prompt/cues modeling, and positive patactice learning with drums and music 🎶!

Data is huge part of behavioral therapy and is used to make informed decisions about treatment and programming that best serves the consumer! It's how analysts determine if a protocol is working or not for the consumer.

There are 2 types of measurement
