Box breathing, also known as square breathing, is a technique used when taking slow, deep breaths. It can heighten performance and concentration while also being a powerful stress reliever. It’s also called four-square breathing.
This technique can be beneficial to anyone, especially those who want mediate or reduce stress.

Tuesday morning tips
Managing work and your personal life can be difficult at times but it is essential that we find healthy ways to both.
Work life balance is an important aspect of a healthy work environment. Maintaining work-life balance helps us to reduce stress and helps prevent burnout in the workplace. Chronic stress is one of the most common health issues in the workplace and at home.
• Play to your strengths. Don't try and be all things to all people.
• Prioritize your time effectively.
• Plot some personal time.
• Have set work hours and stick to them.
• Find time for your finances.
• Make your workspace work for you.
• Incorporate physical activities.
• Take break when needed.
• Engage in mentally stimulating activities (Ex meditation, yoga)
Here are some positive affirmations to help you through the day.
What exactly is emotional intelligence? 👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽
Learn to tap into your emotional intelligence next time you are faced with a difficult situation where your want to respond out of frustration or anger.
We've all heard the sayings laughter is good for the soul or laughter is the best medicine. Laughter indeed is something that helps us to alleviate stressors in our life. Here are some short and long term benefits:
Laughter lowers the blood pressure, reduces pain, relaxes our muscles, and burns calories. Laughter enhances our mental health by improving our mood, relieves feelings of anger and frustration, and helps reduces tension. Laughter also increases our energy, inspires hope, and adds joy to our life.
𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲
Go ahead and give it a try. Turn the corners of your mouth up into a smile and then give a laugh, even if it feels a little forced. Once you've had your chuckle, take stock of how you're feeling. Are your muscles a little less tense? Do you feel more relaxed? That's the natural wonder of laughing at work.
October 10 is World Mental Health Day.
It is a day to raise awareness about mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
People with mental health conditions often experience severe discrimination, shame and stigma.
There are many different mental disorders, with different signs and symptoms. They are generally characterized by a combination of abnormal thoughts, perceptions, emotions, behavior and relationships with others.
Mental disorders include: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other psychoses, dementia, and developmental disorders including autism.
There are effective treatments for mental disorders and ways to alleviate symptoms.
If you or anyone you know is experiencing symptoms related to mental health conditions speak your health care provider or a licensed mental health professional.
Stressors whether they are good or bad are a part of our every life. It is important to identify which stressors are hindering our overall well-being. Once you identify them we need to find the technique that works best for you to manage them effectively.
Here are the 4 A's of Steess Management
Avoid
Believe it or not, you can simply avoid a lot of stress by planning ahead, rearranging your surroundings and taking on a lighter load of work or responsibilities.
• Take control of your surroundings.
• Learn to say no.
• Ditch part of your list.
However, some problems can't be avoided. For those situations, try another technique.
Alter
One of the most helpful things you can do during times of stress is to take inventory, then attempt to change your situation for the better.
• Respectfully ask others to change their behavior.
• Communicate your feelings openly.
• Manage your time better.
• State limits in advance.
Accept
Sometimes we may have no choice but to accept things the way they are. For those times try to:
• Talk with someone.
• Forgive.
• Practice positive self-talk.
• Learn from your mistakes.
Adapt
Thinking you can't cope is one of the greatest stressors. That's why adapting, which often involves changing your standards or expectations can be most helpful in dealing with stress.
• Adjust your standards.
• Practice thought-stopping.
• Reframe the issue.
• Adopt a mantra.
• Create an assets column.
• Look at the big picture.

For those who may not know me my name is Sheila Kusi-Asare and I am the proud owner, founder and director of SKA Therapeutic Services LLC.

With that said I was able to get to the place of clarity I needed in order to come back ready to share some content and materials to help break the stigma associated with mental illness.

As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of the events of 9/11, let's not forget the lives lost as well as those who survived the traumatic events.
Survivors may experience Symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Here are some symptoms of PTSD.
If you are experiencing symptoms of PTSD for a prolong amount of time it is important you seek assistance from a trained mental health professional.
Happy Monday!
Remember that the process of change is not meant to be comfortable. Allow yourself to sit and go through the discomfort cause at the end it will be worth it.

September is also Self–Care Awareness Month.
Use this month as a reminder that taking care of ourselves, first and foremost, is essential. 💗
Self-care is often neglected in our everyday lives. We all tend to put others’ needs before our own but it is important that we take time to care for ourselves first.
