03/11/2016

Ann Tornberg for District 16 House leading the press conference in Sioux Falls today surrounded by area Democratic candidates. The message: We must restore balance and accountability to Pierre or risk more of the scandals like EB 5 and Gear Up.

Stand Up for hard working teens. SD has NEVER had a different wage for ANYONE. Same job = same pay whatever your age!

The minimum wage is on the ballot in several states this year. South Dakota is the only state which is considering lowering it - as a result of Republicans in Pierre going against the will of the voters to pass a lower minimum wage for young workers just months after we passed an minimum wage increase in 2014.

Vote no on Referred Law 20, and keep the minimum wage the minimum wage for everyone!

Thanks to Dave for letting me put up signs in his bean field by driveway to Wynstone and a special thanks to the supporters on Suncoast Drive in McCook Lake. Looks like the whole neighborhood put up a Vote Tornberg sign! Every day counts in this campaign and there's still five to go!!

02/11/2016

Voters in the northern parts of District 16 might be surprised to know about the buffalo herd grazing on a beautiful Nov day in the Wynstone neighborhood in southern Union Co. It's one more great place in District 16!

As a high school teacher for 32 years, I will stand up for teens and VOTE NO on Referred Law 20.

Sat. we did door to door in Worthing and then passed out LOTS of candy at the "Trunk and Treat" held at the Elementary School. Sunday we enjoyed the Canton Transit Fundraiser Spaghetti Supper at the Canton Senior Citizen's Center. Two great communities in District 16.

One of my campaign staffers, Anna reminds you to VOTE EARLY. Just yesterday -Friday, Oct. 21- 4,912 South Dakotans voted early. There were 113 votes cast in District 16 alone (53 registered Democrats and 60 registered GOP). Each night I receive the info from the Secretary of State's office and see thousands who have already voted. You can ask for a ballot at the county courthouse and vote the same day or request one through the mail by going to the Sec. of State website.

Invitations still stand to talk about Gear Up

Since 2005, the State of South Dakota has spent $62 million of the taxpayers' money on a program intended to gear-up American Indian kids to go to college. However, nobody in state government-or its army of consultants-can present ANY credible evidence of how many kids actually went to college because of the $62 million. Read what Bob Mercer has to say. We shouldn't be done with this discussion.

capjournal.com PIERRE – A year ago in September a lawyer representing Rick Melmer and Keith Moore sent a letter to me warning I shouldn’t lump his clients with Scott Westerhuis.

FINALLY, key South Dakota GOP leadership is stepping up and asking Trump to withdraw.

Some South Dakota Republicans are finally calling for Trump to withdraw. But what took so long? Why did they not denounce Trump long before this, due to his many racist, misogynistic, and generally outrageous statements?

I stand with the Governor to pass Medicaid Expansion in South Dakota.

Democrats will work together with the Governor to pass Medicaid expansion which will close the coverage gap for 55,000 South Dakotans, pump hundreds of millions into our economy and not cost the state a dime. The best way to make this happen is to elect Democrats!

"The diplomats said “none of us” will vote for Trump. While they said not all of them agreed with every decision made by Hillary Clinton, they said they all supported her candidacy.

“Because the stakes in this election are so high,” the letter said, “this is the first time many of us have publicly endorsed a candidate for President.”"
