"Robert & April, I have been a collector of an array of different ancient coinage for awhile now & I’m constantly baffled by the lack of historical content that I receive with my purchase’s & that’s if I receive anything at all. I tell every proprietor what an incredible marketing opportunity they’re missing out on. Every one of these gems has a story associated with it & needs to be told.
Then I accidentally stumbled upon your site while looking up the wreck of the Atocha & Mel Fisher. Of course I had to buy a piece of history, which arrived a few minutes past & when I carefully opened up the box I was blown away, not only by my 1 Real Cob from the Consolacion, but all the historical content that came along on it’s passage. I feel like a kid at xmas & can’t wait until 5:00 when I can really dive right in & devour every last piece. Kudos to the both of you Robert & April for taking the time & putting forth the effort. It is truly appreciated!! (Hopefully in time I can get 7 more & have a “Reale" pc of 8)

Yes, the famed doubloon of pirate legend... or in this case a 4 Escudo circa 1580 - twice the weight of its smaller 2 Escudo cousin in the background (which is also amazing, by the way). Robert has just finished these two and I am working on the web photos... but had to show you this sneak peak because, well, they are just too amazing not to share.

Love animals? So did the Ancient Greeks... In fact, many of their gods and goddesses were associated with animals, such as Zeus the eagle, Artemis the bear, and Poseidon the horse. Animals were also used in their art - and their coins were no exception!
Ancient Greeks also kept many animals as pets - they even had pet dolphins! And you may notice a few mythic animals keeping company right along with owls, dolphins and the like!
