Franky is a two year old, 78 pound lab/weim mix (aka silver lab) that was picked up as a stray by the shelter. He is a very social dog, good with people and other dogs, and was in good shape when they got him, and they were sure he would get reclaimed, but he didn’t.
We have him now in our pack and he’s doing great, and also good in his kennel. If you would like to foster to adopt Franky, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

UPDATE ON DELILAH
After a stop over at our vet, Charlie picked her up and delivered her to a wonderful home.
There are so many “Delilah’s” out there… open your hearts and your homes and you will wonder who rescued who.

Ellie is a beautiful five year old purebred German Shepherd but, unlike most shepherds, she is a dainty 60 pounds, and has the happy-go-lucky personality of a lab. She is great in the house and with other dogs, but she is getting returned because they have a 3 pound dog and a 6 pound dog and its hard for Ellie to play with them without hurting them, so they want to rehome her.
If you would like to foster to adopt this beautiful girl, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.
Ellie will be at the ADOPTION DAY this Sunday, 8/18 from 1-3 at Dogma - 4790 Wright Dr in Smyrna

Pluto is a four year old, 38 pound lab/beagle mix that was adopted from a shelter, and found running loose in a neighborhood. The owner was found, but they said that a friend had given him to them, and they no longer could keep him.
We got Pluto vetted and were lucky to find a foster, and he has been doing really well. Pluto knows commands (in English and Spanish), is good in the car, has some leash manners, loves toys and tummy rubs, is great with kids, dogs and even cats (but wants to play with them), and is good in the house. If you would like to foster to adopt Pluto, Please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.
Pluto will be at the Adoption Day this Sunday, 8/18 from 1-3 at Dogma - 4790 Wright Dr in Smyrna

WE NEED PUPPY FOSTERS
We've been getting HAMMERED all year long from shelters asking us to take puppies, and moms with litters that are ON THE EUTHANASIA LIST! We have worn our puppy team out and need some new recruits. We offer a lot of hand-holding, and support, if needed, and can get supplies for you. If you can help, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com and fill out a foster form.

King is a four year old, 76 pound mastiff mix that was brought into a vet clinic of ours and asked to surrender. The owners had only had the dog for 2 days, and had gotten him at a “clear the shelter” event where the dogs are given away for free. The dog was suffering from heat exhaustion and was limping badly, so the vet took him hoping they could find a place for him. After calling several rescues they work with no luck, they called us. We had a volunteer in the area and they stopped in the clinic to meet the dog. Immediately you could see what a sweet and gentle guy he was. He looked totally hot and tired, and it was discovered that he was limping because his pads were badly burned from walking on hot asphalt. The shelter had done most of the vetting, including surgery to fix an eye condition called entropion. We had an available foster who loves this breed, so we decided this would be his lucky day.
King has indeed found his new lease on life and has acclimated to his foster home seamlessly. He is calm, great in the house, seems to be good with other dogs, and is so affectionate. If you would like to foster to adopt King. Please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

Wyatt is a three year old, 80 pound lab that was picked up as a stray and turned into the shelter. They were surprised that no one came to claim this wonderful dog, and so were we. Wyatt is great with other dogs, loves people, and is clean in his kennel, so he is likely housetrained.
If you would like to foster to adopt Wyatt, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.
Wyatt will be at the ADOPTION DAY this Sunday, 8/18 from 1-3 at Dogma – 4790 Wright Dr in Smyrna.

Trevor (shelter name “Boot Daddy”?) is a playful ten month old, 58 pound lab mix, who has been in foster for most of his life. His mother was pregnant when she was taken to the shelter, and Trevor was born into foster care in October. The foster was going to adopt him and had him for 4 months until her schedule changed and he was returned to the shelter. He was fostered again, this time for 6 months, but she moved and he ended up in the shelter again, has been there for the last two months, and was on the list to be euthanized last week.

Trevor is with our foster now and has easily adjusted. He shares a home with three other dogs and spends his days wrestling, playing tug, chasing balls ... and sometimes napping. He is crate trained, potty trained and walks well on a leash. As a bonus, he is good around kids. If you're looking for a puppy, Trevor might be your perfect match. You can foster to adopt him by going to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.
Trevor will be at the ADOPTION DAY this Sunday, 8/18 from 1-3 at Dogma – 4790 Wright Drive in Smyrna.

LuLu is a 2 year old, 34 pound lab mix that came from Cobb County shelter, where she was "rescue only" due to her fear of basically everything. While in the shelter she cowered in the corner like she was trying to make herself invisible.
She went to one of our best fosters as soon as she came in, and here she is a couple of months later, cowering no more...She is relaxed and comfortable around all of the dogs and people, and so good in the house, no accidents and crate trained. She is still a little shy in new places, but that's to be expected and once she knows she's safe she is the most affectionate dog ever.
If you would like to foster to adopt Lulu, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application. If she is not on the site, just write her name where it asked you which dog you want.
Lulu will be at the ADOPTION DAY this Sunday, 8/18 from 1-3 at Dogma - 4790 Wright Dr in Smyrna.

Delilah is an eight year old, 40 pound lab mix that has been given a week to find a new home or the wife says “she will have to make a very hard decision.” They have had Delilah her whole life but they are having another baby, and have decided to start a “hobby farm” with chickens, and other farm animals that most dogs like to chase, and sometimes kill. The chicks have arrived so Delilah’s time is up.
Delilah is great in the house, very sweet and loving, lives with another dog, but needs a slow intro to new ones, and we’d like to find a home without another dog if possible. They say she is the sweetest dog in the world. Great with kids, and a great lapdog. “She is literally the dog that will meet you at the door waiting for you to come home every day,” but they have busy schedules and with the new hobby farm starting, Delilah is headed for the shelter or vet to be euthanized if someone can’t take her this week. If you would like to adopt her please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application, we’ll waive the fee for the right home. If you can foster please email [email protected]

Buddy is a 9 year old, 75 pound lab mix that was surrendered to the shelter due to his owner's declining health. He is good with dogs and people. A typical senior labby boy that has found himself on the list for euthanasia.
We have emailed several fosters and have had no luck. His time is up tomorrow so we are planning to get him, but he'll have to go to our boarding, so not much different...still a hard kennel and noisy dogs.
If you can foster Buddy, hopefully starting tomorrow, please email us as soon as possible at [email protected]. If you would like to foster to adopt, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

Ivy is a one year old, 55 pound lab that was surrendered due to the owner’s health issues. She is in a foster and has confirmed all that the owner said about her. She is house trained and crate trained, good with dogs, and no reaction to cats when passing on the street, super sweet and calm and of course, pretty darn cute!
If you would like to foster to adopt Ivy, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

Bolt is a six year old, 55 pound mix that was brought to the vet by his owner, who asked that he be euthanized because he couldn't afford him anymore. As unbelievable as that sounds, it's becoming all to familiar. It's a shame because Bolt is the dog that everyone wants. He is calm and great with kids and other dogs, housetrained and crate trained, good on a leash and listens well.
If that sounds like the perfect dog, we agree...If you would like to foster to adopt Bolt, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

Ranger is a seven year old, little 45 lab/boxer mix that was trained to be a PTSD service dog, but was abandoned by his owner...
He is calm and loves hang out and cuddle, obviously well-trained and easy, and good with kids and other dogs. Ranger is up to date on all vaccinations, house trained and crate trained, and great on and off of a leash. If you would like to talk to the trainer about adopting him, please email him at [email protected].

How about some good news? After 9 days at the vet battling Parvo, we’re happy to report that Ivy won the battle and is now at her foster home.
Thank you to all who donated towards her vetting that exceeded $10,000. Her future looks bright!

It’s with great sadness that I report on the passing of Frank Conn the co-founder of Atlanta Lab Rescue.

Frank and I started out fostering for other rescues, but weren’t happy with some of the things we saw, so we decided to go off on our own, and in 2007, we started Atlanta Lab Rescue.

It didn't take long to realize that we were in over our heads. The amount of logistics and administrative hurdles to get licensed, insured, non-profit status, and resources lined up, while both of us were working “real jobs,” was no easy task, but we got it all done, and before you know it, we had dogs coming in from all over.

We didn’t have a lot of help yet, and even less money, so Frank and I each had about 10 dogs at our house. Dogs with kennel cough, or any other illness came to my house. Dogs that didn’t get along with other dogs, went to Frank’s house, and most fell into step in a day or two. He was truly the “dog whisperer.”

Frank was fearless and was the one who came to my rescue when the going got tough. There are so many stories about Frank, like when he jumped out of a moving car to catch a runaway dog, or showed up at an adoption day covered with blood from breaking up a dog fight. He could do shots, sub Q fluids, and remove stitches...and nothing grossed him out.

We were lucky to find amazing volunteers and donors to support us, and in a few years we were managing 40-50 dogs at a time. In 2015, Frank moved to FL to help with his aging mom. It was a huge loss, but he had left a strong legacy, and we had a lot of dedicated people who were able to pick up where he left off.

Frank died this past week at 68 of complications due to surgery, his black ALR lab, Bella was by his side. For those of you who follow us on social media and read all the wonderful success stories, Frank paved the way. For our supporters, thank you for believing in our mission. For our adopters, give your dog a hug for Frank, because without him they wouldn’t be here.

As you might imagine, memorials for Frank will go to support his legacy of Atlanta Lab Rescue, and if you would like to donate, you can do so at www.atlantalabrescue.com
I’m sure we’ll see Frank again someday over “the Rainbow Bridge.”

Lena is a two year old, 52 pound Anatolian shepherd mix that was surrendered, along with her 10, four month old puppies, that were a result of unneutered German Shepherd next door.
They were loaded up and on their way to the shelter to be euthanized that day, and we were able to get all of them and they are now in boarding.
Lena is about as sweet and gentle as you can get. She is great with people and other dogs, kids and even seems OK with cats. If you would like to foster to adopt Lena, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

Heidi is a three year old, 48 pound shepherd mix that was turned in to a shelter by her owner, which seems to be what everyone in that town does. She went to our boarding facility in South GA during the holiday week because we were out of space and we almost didn’t get her back. The staff claimed that she was the best dog we had ever had there and didn’t want us to take her. We brought her to town and found out for ourselves that she was a great dog. Sweet and calm, great with all other dogs and seems good with cats. Also, neat in her kennel, so likely housetrained. If you would like to foster to adopt Heidi, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

IVY NEEDS PUPPY PRAYERS and Donations

Poor Ivy was in a home this time last week when we picked her up from her owner who could no longer afford her.
She went straight to the vet to get shots and spay and by Friday she had come down with Parvo. The vet administered a new (expensive) Parvo drug, but it didn't seem to do much good. We transferred her to an emergency clinic where she spent the weekend, but they were closing today, and unfortunately, she wasn't much better, and had also come down with an upper respiratory infection, so she was transferred to another emergency clinic. Tonight she's still very sick and they may need to do a blood transfusion.
Ivy is an absolute angel and has tolerated everything that the vets have done. We pray she will make it, and when she does she'll need a foster home. If you are interested, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com and fill out an application to foster, if you already have an app in, please email [email protected].
Currently her bill is over $7,000 and with much more to go to get her well. You can help by donating on the website or the link below.
She is fighting so hard we have to keep trying.

Emmie is a one year old, 42 pound shepherd mix that came from a shelter that we work with a lot because they send good dogs to us. They have really good volunteers, who get to know the dogs and there is a play yard at the shelter so you can see how the dogs react. As usual, Emmie is a really good dog that is sweet and loving, calm and clean and would make a great companion.

If you would like to foster to adopt Emmie, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

Emmie will be at the Adoption Day on Sunday, 7/28 from 1-3 at Dogma - 4790 Wright Dr in Smyrna

Pearl is a two year old, 53 pound lab mix that was surrendered to the shelter by the owner, who could no longer afford a dog. Too bad for Pearl because she is such a nice dog and a wonderful companion and it would be hard to give her up. She is great with people and other dogs and waits to go outside to potty.

If you would like to foster to adopt Pearl, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.

Bailey is a ten month old, 47 pound lab mix puppy that was turned into the shelter by the owner because she had to move in with relatives, who would not let her keep him. He’s a very sweet and lovable boy that learned some manners in his previous home, and loves dogs and playtime.
If you would like to foster to adopt this cute boy, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.
Bailey will be at the Adoption Day this Sunday, 7/28 from 1-3 at Dogma - 4790 Wright Drive in Smyrna.

How could this adorable 5 month old puppy still be available?
Iris, the last puppy from Athena's litter, was sidelined for a couple of weeks due to parvo and watched her 5 other siblings get adopted. We saved the best for last. Iris has done really well with her training, and her foster says that she is a delight to have around.
If you have the patience and time to train a puppy, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application.
