For International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we are shining a light on some of our amazing colleagues in Brazil who are finding new ways to create an even more inclusive workplace.

Meet Glauce Pardine and Anderson Falcoeiras from Merck Healthcare KGaA. They noticed an opportunity to strengthen the connection between employees with and without hearing ability at their manufacturing site. Their solution? Teach the Brazilian sign language, or Libras, to employees who did not already sign to create an even more inclusive and safe environment for all employees. Starting small with ‘good morning’ and increasing the teams’ vocabulary from there, colleagues are now having full conversations in Libras.

Miguel Carvalho hosts [Coffee with LIBRAS] or [Café com LIBRAS] every month, bringing together two employees, one with and one without hearing ability. Over a cup of coffee, they connect, learn, and bond using Libras.

"Diversity makes a better group," says Glauce, urging everyone to be emphatic and open-minded so that we can all be part of the solution.

We've put our new Ultimus Film to the test - in more ways than one!

We developed the new film to help prevent significant pain point in single-use biomanufacturing: bag failures. To get there, we put the Ultimus Film through test after test to ensure it was stronger and more leak-resistant for the most challenging single-use bioprocessing liquid applications.

Take an inside look at how we came up with this innovation here: http://ms.spr.ly/6187iHXFL
