Volunteer Woodworker Ep. 3 - Can't Keep a Woodworker Down
George Wurtzel was born with a degenerative eye disease that left him unsighted by the age of twenty. The Volunteer Woodworker visits George at his East Tennessee workshop where he shares his compelling story and shows us how he accomplishes his woodworking projects.

When I was but 5 years, Santa brought me a Lionel Train and a story I think of again and again! On Christmas Eve Night, a lively, but not so quick St. Nick accidentally blew the train's whistle which caused such an infernal clatter, it rousted me from my bed to see what was the matter. There in the soft glow of our Christmas tree I saw my dad trying to flee. He grinned, then laughed as he left the living room and we never spoke of this moment again, though in my memory it still looms. So on this Christmas, I bought a Lionel Train and made a Christmas Village so I could announce this joyous refrain. All aboard it's Christmas Time Again!

Episode 1- Banjo Man
Retiring to the perfect tiny house he and his wife designed and built on a Tennessee hilltop, Bill Lester decided building banjos and dulcimers would make life perfect. We will hear his story, take a tour of their 600-square-foot dream home and then go to his spacious shop to learn how he makes his beautiful banjos from bending hoops to inlay.

The Volunteer Woodworker Show has been rescheduled for a December 16th debut in Tennessee. The national debut is planned for March. Next week my show and the "Minnie Pearl Documentary are being promoted at the American Public Television Conference in Palm Springs, by NPT.

I’m so thankful to be living in the greatest Nation on the face of the earth, the United States of America. With all of the political unrest, rising inflation, and all of the things about each other that we don’t agree with, there is still a whole lot about each of us that we do agree with. Our Founding Fathers gave their homes, farms, jobs, and even their lives so that they could birth a new Nation to give to us. And I’m sure there were things about each other way back then that they didn’t agree with either, but the price of freedom and liberty surpasses all of our disagreements.

This Fourth of July, take a moment and thank the God of Providence, the God of the Bible that General Washington prayed to many times for deliverance from tyranny. God stepped in and ultimately gave the Patriots victory in the Revolutionary War giving us our Nation…America!! -Ricky Skaggs

Some us feel like we are revisiting our youth with our hippie hair!

Just watched the debut of the Tennessee Crossroads television segment filmed a few days before our country shut down. I am proud to be featured on the show. NPT's Ed Jones produced a piece of which I am very proud. He and Paul the videographer told my story beautifully. I am so thankful for the many blessings God has given me. I would like to thank all of my many friends and family who have helped me along the way. I am most proud of a line that NPT kept in the show, "God had a much better plan for me than I did!"
