It looks like a pair of mallards wasn't the only thing John shot when duck hunting Tuesday.
Tune in tonight to Wisconsin Public Television at 7pm for Around the Farm Table. John and I aren't interviewed but there are some nice scenes of our farm and an interview with our long term renter, Mike. If you can't watch tonight, here's a link to watch at your convenience.

Dream, scheme and go for it: Farming couple wins Leopold Conservation Award after trusting the universe Dorothy and John Priske chose in the late 1990s to shift their farm to a more environmentally friendly all-grass system. It was a decision that started them on a path to selling their cattle’s meat across the state.

We're honored to be a part of this story about raising, processing, butchering and eating meat sustainably.
Farm raised: Diners demand grass-fed, locally grazed meat, and Wisconsin farmers want to give it to them The desire for sustainable beef, pork and poultry can quickly run up against a lack of understanding about how that meat gets to the table.
This is always a fun event. Hope to see you there!
The weather today is cold, windy and wet but we were uplifted emotionally by this article in our local paper. We look forward to working with Madison College and Andy, Sadie and Abel of Fischer Family Farms.

It's a bittersweet day at Fountain Prairie. The sad news; we sold most of our herd of Highland cattle and this is the last load leaving the farm. The happy news; we sold most of our herd of Highland cattle to a nice young couple from Oregon, Kevin and Keely Oppermann of Highland Spring Farm. We know they'll take good care of the girls. We'll tell you more of our story in an upcoming newsletter, but right now the open road is calling us.
We had a great day on the farm today. We planted a small orchard, 36 trees total. Apple, cherry. pear. plum. apricot and peach.
The cranes are back!
