It was only a matter of time before OpenAI came out with their AI text-to-video creator, and it seems fantastic. What makes Sora so compelling, based on what they have shown, is how accurate the images are. You are seeing very little of what usually gives AI content away, such as weird glitches on the human body like multiple fingers/hands. In addition, it seems like it can produce cinematic-quality content, which will be a great help when it comes to securing things like stock content. We are excited to see what Sora can do when it releases, and we hope you all get a chance to use it too.

Let’s talk about Virtual Reality, a subset of XR that immerses users in a completely digital environment.

These digital environments are typically crafted using game engines such as Unreal Engine and platforms like Horizon worlds.

A notable example of VR application is the educational world MODE created for the National Minority Supplier Development conference, MBDA powered by Meta This virtual environment was developed to educate people about the history of Minority Enterprise Development and illustrate the impact each minority-owned small business has on the economy. It was a pleasure to work with Jason Trimiew, Director of Global Supplier Diversity at META, for his direction on creating this experience. Virtual Reality proved to be a powerful tool in this context, as it deeply engaged users with the presented information. Engaging in playful learning is a crucial method for retaining the information provided.

Another industry making extensive use of Virtual Reality is the Tourism and Travel sector. Creating virtual replicas of destinations provides an excellent opportunity to attract potential travelers. It allows them to vividly experience and explore the destination, enticing them to consider purchasing tickets and making travel plans.

Augmented reality
Let’s delve a little deeper into augmented reality. As mentioned before, augmented reality is when creators overlay digital information, such as images, videos, or 3D models, onto the real world in real-time.

A great example of how this technology is utilized in the entertainment industry is by creating scaled scenery for events like concerts, festivals, and theaters. This enables the portrayal of objects that might be challenging to create in real life. Coachella 2023 serves as an excellent demonstration of the potential of this technology.

In other industries, such as retail and e-commerce, companies are beginning to employ augmented reality to display items like a couch in your living space. This provides a time-saving opportunity for buyers, allowing them to visualize how the item fits in their desired area before making a significant purchase.

Augmented reality is a burgeoning field with vast potential, and MODE is at the forefront, actively integrating this innovative technology into our projects.

Unreal Engine has revolutionized MODE's content creation process. It's ability to craft virtual scenic architecture and stage phenomena allow us to create compelling worlds and narratives. Adding it's deep capacity for interaction makes those world's reactive and flexible. Leveraging the gaming functionalities of Unreal, we can construct immersive environments that captivate and transport our audience. Live design is in the midst of a revolution, and Unreal is a central part !

XR meaning extended reality is an umbrella term used to describe the three subsections of this technology. The first being augmented reality.
Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that overlays digital information, such as images, videos, or 3D models, onto the real world in real-time. Unlike virtual reality, which creates a completely immersive digital environment, AR enhances the user's perception of the real world by adding digital elements to it. This is usually experienced through devices like smartphones, tablets, smart glasses, or AR headsets.

The next type of XR is Virtual reality. Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that immerses users in a completely digital environment, cutting them off from the physical world. VR often involves the use of a head-mounted display (HMD) and other input devices to create a fully immersive sensory experience, including 360-degree visuals, sound, and sometimes even haptic feedback, making users feel like they are in a different, computer-generated world.

The final type (as of now is) Mixed reality. Mixed reality is a technology that combines elements of both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). MR merges the real world with digital objects, allowing users to interact with and manipulate both real and virtual environments simultaneously. Unlike AR, where digital objects are overlaid onto the real world, and VR, where users are fully immersed in a digital environment, MR seamlessly integrates virtual content into the real world and anchors it to specific physical objects or locations.

MODE hopes that this gives you a basic understanding of what XR is as we continue to experiment with this new technology.

One of the standout features of Unreal Engine is its ability to visualize the show's appearance. For MODE, it is crucial to deliver renders that closely resemble the actual show conditions. Unreal Engine excels in this aspect, producing high-quality images that narrate the story of the show exceptionally well.

MODE is always at the forefront of technology, and we would be remiss if we did not discuss the new Midjourney 6.0 update. This update introduces incredible changes, including improvements in lighting, enhanced hand movements, and even better text generation. Here are a few test cases that MODE consistently employs to evaluate an AI model with each new release.
