I have never liked the concept of “Black Friday”.

It reeks of superficiality, childishness, immaturity and unhealthy commercialism-materialism.

It goes completely against the whole spirit of celebrating the sacred birth of Jesus Christ, which happens every December the 25th every year.

Hence, every year on that, what I refer as “The Unenlightened Day”, because, think about it, the behavior humans (fully grown adults, mind you) display that day is appalling and unbecoming and unenlightening, I hide out from the world.

Besides the point, unlike many women, I absolutely despise shopping. I only do so when it is truly necessary for groceries or a genuine need of clothes and other personal things and what not.

When I hide out from the world, especially, that day, I dance and do yoga and create and meditate and go within my spirit, as well essence.

In a way, it has become a tradition for me to have a SelfLove Day that day in all its sacredness and divinity.

Ultimately, isn’t that what Jesus Christ taught his disciples? To love oneself in order to express love and compassion and empathy to others.

So, while the rest of the world engages in the madness and superficiality of the next day after Thanksgiving (how ironic), I just desire sweet silence and the healing spirit of Mother Nature.

For She (Mother Earth) always lovingly reminds us that all we have is all we need—

To be content with what the Universe gives us in rich abundance. Thank you so much, beloved Gods and Goddesses.

Celebrated Diwali last night in one of my favorite traditional sarees, yet lovely new jewelry.

I felt so blessed for my sacred gungurus (dancing bells) being blessed by Lord Natraj (Lord of Dance) and Devi Shakti (Goddess of strength) and Dev Shiva (God of yoga, dance and relationships), along with a plethora of Dev-Deviyaan (Gods-Goddesses), including Lord Ganesh (elephant God of new beginnings and remover of obstacles), Devi Maha Lakshmi Maa (Goddess of wealth and prosperity), Devi Sarasvati Maa (Goddess of art and knowledge) and so many more.

Our prayers and meditations were so beautiful and sublime and divinely healing in MindBodySpirit.

I feel sweetly renewed, refreshed, rejuvenated and showered with luminous blessings beyond my imagination.

May we all walk towards the light of love, kindness and compassion towards ourselves and our fellow sentient beings…

I am in deep awe.

While I was driving today, just barely a half and hour ago, I saw the most beautiful double rainbows!!! 🌈🌈🌈

The moment I saw them, I had to put the music off (I was listening to beautiful Hindi film songs) and just immerse in the beauty of the sky.

My heart was overwhelmed with pure joy and ecstasy.

I was so moved by this glorious moment of witnessing such divine beauty of rainbows, that I cried tears of joy.

This happens.

When we see or hear or feel something so beautiful, it touches our heartsoul.

We respond in deep gratitude for this gift of the Universe that we see in a beautiful sunrise or sunset or rainbows, or when we listen to music that touches a chord in our being, or even when we hold a sweet, innocent baby that is so close to the Divine.

This is what makes our world so beautiful.

I feel double lucky. Double fortunate. Double blessed today.

This is what I seek in phenomenal art.

Menuka Poudel, one of the contestants of this season’s Indian Idol, sang Richa Sharma’s (as a duet with Richa) popular spiritual song, Mere Maula, with purity and divinity of expression that made every single judge and audience member cry.

The subtitle is in Hindi (script), but there is no need to understand all the lyrics and meaning of the song—As music and spiritual purity are universal languages.

You can simply feel it.

Still, “Mere Maula…” essentially entails the devotional call as the following:

“Oh, my beloved Divinity, please have mercy on me. You listen to everyone with compassion and mercy…”

I have seen an abundance of dances and artwork and paintings, and have heard a plethora of songs, but none have made me cry or touched my heartsoul the way Menuka has.

She truly has the purest of souls and has Devi Sarasvati Maa live within her pure heart.

Such simplicity, yet unmatchable depth of spirit at such a young tender age is extremely rare in this world.

I pray with all my heartsoul that Menuka becomes this season’s Indian Idol. Her divine, angelic voice just stirs the core of my being.

My love and blessings are with her.

Recently watched the beautiful Hindi film, which has also been translated into several Indian languages, as well, entitled Adipurush on Netflix.

I realize that this movie initiated with much controversy, especially, back home in my motherland, India.

Regardless, I love the story of one of our most prominent of Hindu mythologies, the Ramayana, in which Lord Ram goes into battle to fight the rakshas (demon) Ravana, because he (Ravana) kidnapped Lord Rama’s beloved, devoted wife, Devi Sita.

The music and songs in Adipurush are to die for—Just so spellbounding and hypnotic and divine.

The divine love between Lord Rama and Devi Sita has been picturized so beautifully, gracefully, eloquently and poetically.

In those scenes, the special visual effects look so ethereal and dreamlike, as though of a beautiful world of the Higher Dimensions.

Yes, I can see why some of the other CGI effects may have been a bit too, how shall we say, Hollywoodish Marvel Comics of Spider-Man effect, which was in misalignment with the grandness of the epic story of Ramayana.

Less would have been more.

As the focus should have been on the beautiful, powerful narrative of the story with many incredible moral lessons of pure love, devotion, righteousness, integrity, dignity, humanity, inclusiveness, truth and goodness, qualities which both Lord Rama and Devi Sita embody as a divine couple.

Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this movie, Adipurush, which, on the whole, is a beautiful film with its strengths and flaws.

All the actors and actresses did amazingly in their respective roles.

Prabhas (famous South-Indian actor) who played Lord Ram exuded the beautiful spirit of the righteous warrior prince in a nuanced, dignified manner, which I loved.

Kriti Sanon, the Bollywood actress who played Devi Sita, exuded the beauty, grace, dignity and devotion in a nuanced, soulful way, as well, which I also loved.

Her simple inner and outer beauty shine.

Had a blessedly lovely Birthday Dinner with dear sweet loved ones in a wonderful Indian restaurant with gorgeous decor and most delicious food and attentive, caring, compassionate service.

Happy Dusshera!!!

Today celebrates the victory of good over evil.

Lord Rama (a Hindu God) defeated Ravana, the evil demon who kidnapped Lord Rama’s beloved wife Devi (Goddess) Sita.

It is no coincidence that Dusshera comes a day after Naumi (the last and ninth night of honoring all our beautiful, powerful Hindu Goddesses such as Durga-Kaali-Shakti Devi Maa).

This reveals the divine power of goodness, be that through our Hindu Goddesses or Lord Rama, that resides within and without us in tangible and mystical ways.

May we all choose goodness, kindness, compassion, care, empathy and love towards ourselves, then towards our loved ones and friends and our world.

The Hindi and Sanskrit word, Namaste, epitomizes this goodness in a simple, yet deep way, because it means, literally—

“May the Divine in me salute and honor the Divine in you.”

Saying this with our palms pressed together in prayer gesture and bowing down in humility in front of another is beyond beautiful…

Worship is a very beautiful, private communion and connection with the Divine in whichever way that resonates (best) with our unique souls.

Having the heart of purity like a child is a luminous aspiration to thus behold.

The majestic beauty of this quaint, charming, serene Buddhist Temple is simply glorious.

Pictures barely can do justice in revealing its soulful, divine essence—One has to experience it.

And the sacred mantras (chants) of Om Mani Padme Hum in the background in congruence with our own inner mantras and prayers and contemplations ascend us into a Higher Dimension of pure, positive, healing vibrations of exquisite transcendence.

It is indescribable.

At best, it can be said that one feels bathed and blessed by the most beautiful healing maram (balm) in this sweet little Buddhist Temple.

All the nuns and monks and volunteers there exude this amazing Thej (inner luminosity and grace and serenity) with good reason:

Their daily spiritual practice purifies their hearts and souls, which is why their inner radiance shines (through) so brightly and beautifully. They truly serve Buddha with genuine love and devotion.

This can never be feigned. When it is truly there, one can feel it deeply, soulfully, palpably.

A brief break time in the midst of my Bharata Natyam and Bollywood Dance Rehearsals today on my sacred special day.

Since Birthdays symbolize new beginnings, I initiated my dance rehearsals with the Ganesh Mantra Strotam Pushpanjali, which is an offering prayer dance to Lord Ganesh, the Hindu elephant God of new beginnings and the remover of all obstacles.

Then I rehearsed my Bollywood and Semi-Classical
Indian Dances.

Before my dance rehearsals, I did a long special Pooja (prayers) consisting of powerful mantras (chants), sacred singing and meditation with luminous candles and agarbathi (incense) to receive much divine-angelic love, blessings, protection and guidance from our beloved Gods and Goddesses and good Angels.

What better way to celebrate than to do what I love most in the world:

Pray. Chant. Meditate. Dance.

Giving someone water and letting someone use the restroom are both punya ka kaam (very, very good karma).

In our Indian culture, we have a saying:

“Dushmano ko paani bhi dethe hain.”

This means that, “You give your enemies, even, water.”

Never lose your sense of humanity and empathy, especially, in those two scenarios—

Thirst and the need to relieve oneself.

Any restaurant that has a sign--

“Restrooms are only for customers”—

Simply reveals that their business, more than likely, is not doing well at all and their desperation leads to this inhumane, cruel sign.

What is interesting is that they attract even
less customers by doing this in the first place.

The Law of Attraction and Manifestation is very powerful.

On the other hand, any restaurant or business or establishment that shows humanity in regard to this, automatically, earns incredible positive karma points (a thousand fold blessings their way) and end up attracting even more customers than they can even imagine.

It is a win-win for all involved.

Hence, kindness and humanity and empathy are beautiful ways to have a thousand fold blessings be showered upon you and good karmas nourish your souls.

Why not, especially, for the above most prevalent of basic human needs…

Haha…Looks like we Hindus and Buddhists got it all wrong according to cows. 🤣🤣🤣

Ironically, in Hinduism, especially, cows are sacred and holy. I kid not, in India, cows roam around the paths and roads and streets as if they own it.

It is like they pick up on the energy and vibe that they are, indeed, holy. Drivers in India have no choice but to wait until the cows get up from the road (yup, some nap on roads) and I tell you, those cows take their sweet holy time. Haha…🤣🤣🤣

It can be maddening!!!

Especially, if you are in a rush. Ah, that’s good old incredible India for you, my darling friends…

I had the most blessed, fantafabulous weekend full of spontaneous adventures and beauty.

Whenever we lovingly allow the Universe to pleasantly surprise us with an open heart, the Divine gives us far more than we could possibly dream or imagine.

Friday night, I (sort of) crashed a Nepali wedding reception at a gorgeous hotel: I can explain--

You see, as I was driving along a serene road, I got a bit hungry, so I stopped by a charming hotel in which I knew there was a good restaurant with yummy snacks.

I stopped by there, nourished myself then was about to leave. However, before that, I heard the sound of amazing Bollywood beats and music.

So, naturally, being a devoted danseuse and dance lover, my spirit was swayed by the intoxicating music and drew me in this ballroom where a newly-wedded couple was having a reception.

I saw beautiful women and men dressed in gorgeous Indian clothes dancing on the dance floor.

I smiled ear-to-ear.

Then I walked up to the front where the newly-wedded couple were posing for pictures. By chance, the mother of the bride walked down the stairs.

I went up to her and asked her if she was the mother of the bride. She said, “Yes.”

“Oh, that’s lovely. Congratulations to your daughter and son-in-law and to you. The music drew me in here. All these people look so happy dancing on the dance floor. I just love to dance.”

The mother of the bride smiled and gestured with graciousness, ”Go ahead. Join us. You are welcome to dance here.”

My eyes just lit up. This was a beautiful, pleasant surprise.

“Are you sure, Aunty?”

“Yes, sure, please.” She smiled with pure kindness.

No arguing that. Next thing I know—

I happily plopped all my things, my purse and book bag on one of the chairs around the fancy tables, wrapped my shawl around my waist, touched the dance floor with reverence seeking the blessings of Divine Spirits, then danced my entire heartsoul.

I danced completely bindaas (carefree and with pure abandon)!!!

Some of the other guests, at times, joined me or I joined them. At one point, I encouraged a cute elderly Mataji (grandma) to dance with me—

Bless her heart. She was so adorable.

Little did I know, a good 45 minutes to an hour passed by as I danced and danced and danced forgetting all about time or anything else, for that matter.

I must have lost 10 billion calories, because I was sweating like a waterfall.

The beautiful newly wedded couple (finally) joined the dance floor and all of us cheered them on. They were also dancing to beautiful Nepali folk music, along with fantastic Bollywood beats.

At some point, I thanked the mother of the bride for being so gracious in allowing me to dance on the dance floor and be a part of her daughter’s wedding reception.

“You are an incredible dancer. It was a pleasure to have you dance with us.” She said with such sweetness and sincerity.

I was deeply touched by her kind words and hospitality towards me, a complete stranger, whom she welcomed with open arms.

May God-Goddess bless her, her newly-wedded daughter and son-in-law, as well her beautiful family and friends in every loving way.

Before leaving, I, again, touched the dance floor with reverence thanking Divine Spirits for my being able to dance there.

I left feeling so blissed out and blessed in ways indescribable.

Today, again, music swayed me to her corner, but this time, to an unexpected music concert at a charming little village center where musicians and a glorious singer were performing in a gazebo.

Somehow, I drove past this place, and quite frankly, nature called. So I stopped there, looking for a restaurant to ask where the closest restroom was. This was in an Irish pub, I believe.

The waiter was gracious to allow me to use their facility.

Then as I was about to leave, I thought, why not have some Oktoberfest veggie soup, it looked good. So I had some.

Once I left the restaurant, I decided to take a stroll in this quaint shopping center with trees and lots of grass surrounded by brick walking paths.

In the middle of the garden, I saw a bunch of musicians setting up their instruments in a gazebo.

I asked one of the ladies (who seemed to be an audience member) what was going on. She said that a music concert was to take place in about an hour.

She said I was welcomed to stay and watch the performance. I told her that I will do so after my walk, which is exactly what I did.

I enjoyed the music so much!!!

They performed beautiful songs ranging from jazz to the blues. It was so lovely with glowing lights on top of the gazebo. The musicians and the singer were so in sync with each other, their connection to each other and their creativity were so palpable, which is why we, the audience, enjoyed it so much.

Some people got up and started dancing.

Of course, so did I. Why would I not.

But this dancing was more soft and gently swaying with the musicians and singer in a supportive, loving way.

Another kind woman asked me how I found out about this event—I told her that I am a free spirit. I go wherever the wind takes me.

She smiled and said—

“I absolutely love that!!!”

Before leaving, I thanked the lady who told me about it and told her that I really enjoyed the music concert. She was so glad (that) I stayed.

This weekend truly was one of dance and music, both are my passions, for the relationship we dancers and danseuses have with music is deep, as well soulful.

I am beyond grateful for the gifts of such artistic-dance-music surprises which I never expected. It is how the Universe gives me loving validation that I truly am in the right blessed dance path.

The best things in life truly are spontaneous and beautiful and simply magical.
