SUMMARY
Responsible for embalming and preparing deceased human remains for funeral services as well as final disposition. Will consider those enrolled in mortuary school, but need to have had relevant embalming experience.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Coordinate the transfer of decedent to mortuary for preparation, including refrigeration, embalming, dressing, casketing, cosmetics, and any other related technical duties.
• Completes all mortuary related forms, paperwork, and/or digital record keeping.
• Ensures the preparation room is well stocked with necessary supplies by placing orders with established vendors and/or informing appropriate staff of needed supplies.
• Back up to Crematory Operator on an as-need basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Two-year course of study at an accredited college, two-year apprenticeship period under supervision of a licensed embalmer, and a degree from an accredited mortuary science program. In addition, preferably at least one year of crematory operator experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and Washington State embalmer’s license. In addition, preferably a Washington State funeral director’s license.

Provides receptionist assistance for mortuary and/or cemetery activities and assistance to facility visitors by performing the following duties.

· Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
