Sheriff expands inmate drug treatment program to The Farm 31/08/2024

".... Jail now has a nationally-acclaimed Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program where addicted inmates can receive their medically prescribed doses of Suboxone, m**hadone and Vivitrol on a daily basis.

In large part, such doses are used to treat the addiction that has plagued the region for the past two decades. and many local crimes are drug-driven.

This week, the MAT program expanded when a second treatment site opened at an Essex County Sheriff’s Department location — The Correctional Alternative Center, known as The Farm, off Marston Street in ."

Thousands of people attended the centennial festivity held from Friday to Sunday night in the Common Street neighborhood of Lawrence. This Italian tradition is a time for families and friends of all nationalities to come together for food, fun and ‘’la festa’’.

The three brothers we honor, Saints Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino, were martyred in the third century for refusing to denounce their Christian faith.

The Merrimack River will have a parade of steamboats tooting their whistles and cruising the waters this weekend as two nonprofit organizations join forces for a steamboat regatta.

A dozen Armenian Church at Hye Pointe parishioners and parish council members prepared over 300 chicken kabobs and lamb shish kababs in preparation of the church’s annual picnic.

The Armenian Church at Hye Pointe, 1280 Boston Road, will hold the annual Armenian picnic from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25.

Three charged with $500K heist at Lawrence store 22/08/2024

The men first robbed numerous employees of their jewelry and cell phones, according to charging documents.

The trio then allegedly pointed fi****ms at the victims’ heads and pressed the fi****ms to their backs as they brought the employees downstairs to the basement where the jewelry store’s office and safes were located, authorities said.

Once downstairs, the defendants allegedly forced the owner of the store to open the safes containing the jewelry and other precious metals. In total, approximately $500,000 in jewelry and precious metals were taken, according to the statement.

The Salem fire and police departments escorted the team home. Known to the students as officer ‘’Joey’’, Defeudis is the Woodbury Middle School resource officer and knows some of the players who are students at the school.

The boys of the Salem Little League World Series team arrived home Monday night to the cheers from families, friends and community members.

The Salem police and fire escorted the bus to the boys’ home turf at Michele Memorial Park as dozens of people greeted them with welcome home signs and plenty of pizza. Local businesses and the community supported the team on a season they will never forget.
