Meet Ken, Sara, Mia, and Koda! 🤙
Ken and Sara went to the same college and although they had many mutual friends, it wasn't until a college windsurfing club trip to Hatteras that they met. Sara was a senior and Ken had graduated a few years prior, but loved any chance he could find to go to Hatteras! 🌊 This was 2010. During this club trip, Ken interviewed with Andy for the job at Wind-NC and moved to Avon shortly thereafter. Sara followed after graduation and started coaching windsurfing at OceanAir Sports.
Koda joined the team while Sara was studying at UNC. Her interests include sticks, tennis balls, snacks, swimming, and swimming. 🐕💦🎾
After nearly 10 years of dating and living the dream, Ken and Sara got married at the Inn on Pamlico Sound and then a year later welcomed baby Mia into the family. 🥰
Although we are originally from Maryland, we consider North Carolina home. We are currently in Miami, and have thoroughly enjoyed our time here - Mia had an epic winter swimming in the tropical water almost every week - but Koda definitely misses her runs on the wide open beaches of Hatteras.
We've got a bit of a road trip 🚙🚚 ahead of us, but we're looking forward to getting settled in the OBX - just in time for the summer season! ☀️
Wind-NC is under new ownership!

I am excited to announce that as of today, Ken and Sara Ahrendt are the new owners of Wind-NC!
You may remember Ken, he was my first employee at the shop in Avon. He and his wife Sara plan to bring Wind-NC back to North Carolina, and that brings me much joy. 🙌
I am confident that they will provide the same great service and personal support that I know you value. I couldn't be more thrilled to see Wind-NC in good hands.

Wing skiing is now officially a family sport! My 8 year old picked it up instantly, and my 6 year old could use some more height but also got a few rides. Stoked! Ready to head back out today for some more!

Finally got a taste of wing surfing on a frozen bay and in some untouched powder fields... and oh man we are hooked!! So now we’re back to checking the wind forecast 3 times a day 😂 No lift lines out here!! So stoked, if you have the opportunity you HAVE to get in on this action!!
