The City of Aleknagik will have their Community Clean-up on June 2 and 3 this weekend from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ALPAR yellow bags will be available at the city, tribal and IGAP offices beginning June 1 during their respective office hours. Offices can be reached at 907 842-5953, 842-2080 or 842-4407 for pick up.
Please place the yellow bags along side the road once filled and the city and tribe will work together to pick up the trash in our community.
Please know however the city is unable to picke up or receive large items at this time. We hope to have a Fall Clean-up to deal with large items that need to be removed from yard or other.
Thank you again for helping keep our community clean from north to south shores and roadsides of Aleknagik!

And the highlight of the city's day, was Mr. Nelson donating life jackets from toddlers to adults! Thank you for your kind gesture and donations! It's rare we are given such gifts for our community members and visitors! If you see him, please thank him too!

Please know to check your heating fuel lines to homes or businesses and make sure there is no snow or ice weighing on the lines. Fuel spills are costly and hazmat response volunteers few. We are searching for "presentation of colors and flag ceremony" volunteers in active military duty or boy or girl scouts. I understand the post in our region has been disbanded. Help us, please.

Aleknagik Residents:

UPDATE: The landfill will be open at 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The landfill may not be open today Saturday, February 11, 2023 due to heavy snowfall and drifts that occurred Thursday night and all day and night Friday. We will update you as soon as we know if the landfill road is cleared in time by the noon opening. Thank you for your patience as we only have one operator and one grader. Stay safe and good day.

Please know Dr. Ben Maxon made it into the village today. He is offering a free Basic Life Support medical training beginning tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023. No need to register in advance. The training will be held at the Aleknagik Clinic beginning at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Maxon will be offering advanced first aid after the BLS class if you'd like to participate. If you already have your BLS, this is a good refresher training. The contact numbers are listed in flyer below or call 907 842 5953 for more information! Any one is welcome to participate!

Due to heavy snowfall, the City Landfill will be closed today. We may open it tomorrow if weather allows. If so, we will let you know here and email and telephone organizations. Thank you for your understanding as our two operators do their best to clear the city's public roads.
