CHF Hero Series - Rob Drake
One of Rob’s biggest goals is to foster collaboration in all he does – to involve everyone from all corners
of our community, including citizens, elected officials, public services, and the business community.
“Many winds fill our sails” is how he describes the value of collaboration. He adds, “If you have a tough
issue, you must address it and not just dance around it. The community must come together to define
what are the needs and how we can do better.”

REACH Community Development

Today, we are celebrating a “virtual” groundbreaking for one of the first new communities made possible through the voter-approved Metro Regional Affordable Housing Bond! Thanks to the leadership of local and state public partners, affordable housing is being built across the entire region. REACH is but one organization working towards this larger system change and making housing more affordable and accessible to all.

Construction is underway on The Mary Ann, creating 54 new affordable apartment homes in downtown Beaverton. The Mary Ann will help meet the needs of local families with its proximity to jobs, transit, and schools.

Celebrate with us — watch the video of the virtual groundbreaking. We’re looking forward to next year when we’ll celebrate the grand opening and welcome residents to their new homes.

Bienestar

In light of the recent tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the nation-wide protests against racism and police brutality, Bienestar affirms its commitment to racial equity and social justice. The COVID-19 pandemic and the disproportionate toll it is taking on communities of color, including the Latinx community of Washington County, also reminds us all that we have a long way to go in order to achieve Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of a racially just society. Bienestar stands with those who share this vision and dedicates itself to work towards its realization.
