Delaine! She has been my client for over a year…and what a year it has been! She initially had a few goals: to have more energy, learn to wat healthier, sleep better, and maybe lose a few pounds.

Her most specific goal was to do a pull up. This was our last day of in-person training, and SHE GOT IT!

Do you have a goal weight?

How did you decide on that?

Let me guess….it’s probably close if not the same as your weight in high school or college.

What would your life be like if you never got to that weight again?

What would it be like if you did…and you still didn’t feel “good” about how you look?

Most of us strive for the number on the scale when, in fact, we want to look:

🎉more muscular
🎉jacked
🎉toned
🎉ripped

Whatever word you use, it’s all the same.

You want to look lean and strong.

You want to see those muscles.

What if you never reach that goal weight, BUT:

🔥you can see your muscles
🔥your clothes fit better
🔥you have more energy
🔥you can perform better

It’s time to set goals that are a true reflection of what you really want.

Have you tried “everything” to lose weight and be healthier:

There are a lot of these so-called personalized weight loss programs out there.

They’ve been around a long time.

🤔Makes me wonder…

If they’re so good at what they do…

💥Why do you have to keep going back to them?

Because that’s the way they want it.

Their business plan is to cut your calories so low that you have immediate weight loss…

Then you plateau…

Then you struggle hard with:

👉hunger
👉fatigue
👉brain fog
👉sleep disturbances
👉cravings

So, you start to give in to more food (high calorie, highly palatable) and the weight starts to creep back on.

🙄You blame yourself.

😳They tell you it’s because you didn’t follow the plan - they blame you, too.

And the vicious cycle starts again…only this time you are in a worse position metabolically to lose weight.

🛑Stop working with businesses who don’t get to know you.

🛑Stop working with businesses who give everyone the same template and tell you they aren’t.

🛑 Stop being lied to by businesses set up to make you fail so they can make MORE MONEY.

Who knew? (I did😀)

I love it when women finally realize that doing hours of cardio and under-eating won’t get them to their goals.

If you want to look “lean” you have to eat and strength train - heavy!

Throw your 2 # weights away, eat the carbs, and grab some iron!

Let’s all become strong and powerful physically, which will make us the same mentally.

Let’s talk about stress!

Or not…so many people are desensitized to that word and what it is really about.

Most of our health and wellness struggles can be traced back to it.

When I think about stress and stressors, I use the term “allostatic load”.

This is a better overall descriptor of what we mean in the health and nutrition coaching space when we ask about stress.

Allostatic load is the entire amount of energy your body is asked to expend each day whether that is emotional, physical, or psychological.

The reality of your physiological life is that your brain runs the show…the entire show.

Every thought, feeling, experience, action you perceive is a direct result of your brain doing work.

My clients (and I) work to manage allostatic load in their daily lives in order to make progress toward their goals.

If you are using your energy to worry about things you have no control over, you are wasting energy and inhibiting your progress.

Client NSV coming in hot on this Monday morning!

It’s only been a few weeks, and we are still in the formative phase: getting to a stable macro intake, drinking enough water each day, and adding strength training..

And the non-scale victories are starting to pop up!

The scale hasn’t moved, but her inflammation has decreased.

Takeaway: find other ways to measure your success. Maybe it’s how your pants fit, increased energy levels, improved sleep, or better mood.

All of those metrics are just as important (if not more) than the number on the scale.

It’s important to learn to focus on the positives while you are working toward your goals!

Early morning Snap from !

She is a 61 year old grandma, mom, daughter, wife, business owner, and friend. Her life is busy!

And two years ago she got basic labs done…and got scared.

She saw cholesterol, insulin, and glucose trending toward illness and disease.
