It’s starting to become that time when our Havoc K9 pups are starting to retire. K9 Atticus in Washington City, Utah has officially signed off and is looking for the perfect retirement home!

He is a seven year old German Shepherd dual purpose dog with over 200 finds in his career! He is good with people and kids. Pretty dog selective but may be able to be placed with a more submissive female. Layton City’s K9 Grace (a little black Labrador) was his best buddy when he was with us. He has some resource guarding issues with food so additional care should be taken. Up to date on shots, not neutered but will be required upon placement. He is great in the kennel run and crate.

He will require a fenced yard and be an inside dog only. Rehoming fee applies. He is currently in Washington City, Utah but will be up in northern Utah in a few weeks so transport is available in the state. I’d like to keep him close.

If you believe you are the home for this hero, shoot me a private message and let’s talk! Please feel free to share this far and wide so I can find him the perfect placement.

A HUGE thank you to our wonderful Lori Wagner Wiarda and Skip Wiarda who donated Atticus to Havoc K9 when he was a young boy. And Tim and Erin Chard who were so instrumental in his placement. I could not have done this without them. ❤️

As many of you know Dustin has been in the hospital fighting for his life against Covid-19 since September 30th.

The last 48 hours Dustins condition has taken a turn. His heart, lungs, kidneys and GI tract are all failing. The doctors are working hard to help him work through his treatments safely.

Dustin is a great dad to his awesome kids Dakota and Braxton. He is a loving husband to Ricki (they are couples goals ask anyone!) Dusty has served most of his life as has his wife Ricki. We now have the great opportunity to serve their family and give back what they have so freely given to others. Please take this opportunity to rally together for this amazing family and help them so they dont need to worry about anything as they continue to fight for Dustin to recover!

Here is the latest update from Ricki 10/12/21 14:00 HRS:

Just a quick update. Looks like the liver is joining the shut down party along with the GI Tract, heart, lungs and kidneys. He didn’t tolerate the dialysis well but they are trying something else when the kidney doctor gets here. So
Today at the hospital cafeteria someone asked “how are you doing?” And I said “me?” And she laughed and said no, She was talking to someone else. So I just smiled. Then she asked how I was doing and I said “not great”. She asked why and I told her and started crying. Ugh. All I do is cry anymore. She gave me a big hug and told me I was loved. Then I went to pay for my things and someone already paid for it. It has to have been that Angel. What a wonderful gift.
I also got a huge donation from my sweet police wives and donations from my awesome friends. I cry at every donation that comes in. I don’t expect it and don’t really want people spending their hard earned money on me but it sure will help with the gas back and forth for sure. Dustin‘s beloved truck takes a lot of gas So thank you to all that have done that. It means the world to me.
Lastly, and maybe most importantly, I’m going to be sharing my sweet husband with the world at 6 pm tonight on channel 5. Huge thank you to Natalie Ann Lynn for being my spokesperson. I couldn’t have done that without you.
Enjoy one of my favorite pictures of us. Me looking at him with adoration (just happened to catch that) and him frowning. plus if you look carefully in his glasses you’ll see we had to work together to take the picture. Haha! That’s how we roll.

We are looking for an amazing retirement home for one of our working K9s. Vinnie was a dual purpose K9 with several apprehensions to his credit and lots of drugs taken off the street. He was medically retired due to some minor injuries and age that do not affect his health at this time. His ear was injured and a hematoma resulted in his ear cartilage to be damaged. But we think it makes him adorable!

Vinnie is a 6.5 year old black German Shepherd who would love nothing more than an active home who will take him hiking, allow him all the couch time he wants and maybe play odor games with him as he still has the drives to do the job even if his body can’t handle the pressure of everyday work.

Being a dual purpose dog, his new family will need to ensure his interactions with people and other pets are safe. This includes muzzles when hiking and slow introductions to people. He currently lives with a quiet cat and female dogs and does great with them. Male dogs and skittish cats will need to be avoided.

He is not quick to trust strangers but once a friend, he is spectacular. You’ll never need to worry about home intruders again!

Vinnie is a very cuddly dog to his people. He is perfectly crate and house trained, never destructive like you see in other working dogs as he has a phenomenal off switch. He was raised by a professional trainer as a puppy who also helped ease him back to civilian life.

You will be asked to keep him on a good quality maintenance diet to keep weight off him and be required to keep in contact with us throughout his life.

An adoption fee is required and you may be asked to meet with us in Utah or with one of our representatives in another state prior to placement. Preference is to keep him close but our main priority is to find him the perfect retirement home. Experience with working dogs is also preferred.

If you are the right person for our big guy, message me here or send an email to [email protected]

Please feel free to ask any questions. We’ll be happy to answer!

We have two, green single-purpose prospects available. One 2 year old male German Shepherd/Malinois mix (we’ve got several of his siblings out working now) and one 8 month old female German Shepherd; both with amazing drives. Located in Northern Utah. Message us for more information! Video and recommendations can be provided upon request.

EDIT 2/25/20: I’ve found several cheaper options thanks to our amazing peeps!! So instead of $900 we are looking around $550. Woot!! Any donations would be greatly appreciated!!

Havoc fans!! As you may have noticed, we are ramping down our operations a bit due to a recent move. We currently only have one puppy in our program and haven’t had to ask for donations for quite sometime. However, we recently got a puppy back from a pet home that was from our Six x Hook breeding in 2017 as his drives have developed into more than a pet home situation. This boy needs to work! He’s been professionally evaluated and showed a ton of promise. Here’s where you can help!

He’s a bit of an escape artist so we are needing a heavy duty metal crate and the cost is much more than we have in our bank account at the moment. We are looking at the crate linked below and need close to $900 for the crate and shipping. If any of our supporters are interested in a tax-deductible donation to our cause through Venmo, we would be forever grateful. If you’d like a different way to donate, message us and we can work something out.

Our Venmo account is -K9 with the name Ricki Draper associated with it.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide!! ❤️❤️

I have a five year old spayed female from one of our breedings available. Amazing house dog but is not fond of female or small dogs. Good with cats and respectful children. Is very protective of her family and property but stable with those you invite in. I would prefer her to stay in Utah but may consider nearby states for the perfect home. She would be a great obedience/agility/rally type prospect. Has had some exposure to bite work as a young dog.

She would be staying with us if her mom and aunt weren’t so naughty with other females! Home inspections and vet references will be checked along with close contact throughout her life to ensure everyone is happy.

Contact us for more information.

In the course of our organization, we bred dogs for K9 work. Not all dogs had what it took to be K9 and/or we had more than our puppy raising program could support so they were placed in carefully approved pet homes. I regret placing dogs in homes like these as they clearly do not enjoy their nanny duties. 😂😂🤣

This little guy has a twin brother and their mom reports that Dice (Six x Ryker) has claimed these babies as her own and woe be unto those who dare mess with HER babies.

This. ❤️

They said he was too much to handle. That’s all I knew about him. He had lived on an Indian Reservation, was returned to a shelter, and was too much to handle. That is where our story started. I was looking for my second police dog and after numerous trips to L.A. to test imported dogs, all of which failed Sac PD’s stringent tests, we heard of a 9-month-old Dutch Shepherd. A local dog at a kennel in Sonora. He was a rescue. Pulled from a shelter in Humboldt County by North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue, but set aside for police work when someone saw his potential.

We took the drive to Sonora and I met ‘Pyro’ for the first time. From what I remember, he was standing on top of a cargo container, at least 10’ high, when we pulled in. Keenly watching. I wondered how he could of got on top of something that tall. He was slender, just 51 lbs., still a puppy, yet had huge ears that he hadn’t quite grown into. We took him on loan and headed back to Sacramento.

This little brindle rescue never backed down. There wasn’t anything we could present to him that he would shy away from. He passed each of our tests. He was tough, determined, strong, yet incredibly social. I could tell he was going to be challenging, but we chose him. ‘Pyro’ was renamed ‘Rollo’, his namesake a crabbing boat in Alaska, and we began our journey.

We became a team of firsts for Sac PD - he was the first Dutch Shepherd the K9 Unit had ever chosen, the first rescue, and the youngest dog ever selected. We finished our training and hit the streets, he at just a year old! And he was paired with me, the first female handler for our department.

I quickly learned a few things about Rollo. If you didn’t give him something to do, he would find something to do. My little ‘Dingo’ tested my patience on training days, humbled me on the trial field, yet brought out my proudest moments while working. We were a great team, the best partner I ever had. I would choose him again, over anyone.

At home, the dog that was too much to handle became my son’s first friend. Meeting when he was just 4 months old, and Rollo still a puppy himself, the two of them would grow up together. Rollo would lay next to my son while he was a baby, learning to crawl, stand, sometimes using Rollo for support. Letting him sit on his back like a horse as my son giggled until he fell off. When he was older, they moved to the backyard and became buddies, playing for hours with the hose. Hauling tennis balls in his tractor, “Raw-ro” patiently following behind. Playing baseball, Rollo the best outfielder. Emptying stockings at Christmas. Rollo had one too. He was part of our family.

He loved to go work. And I loved being his partner. Every day, he watched the sun rise through the back window on our morning drive in. It calmed him. I would always reach back and pet his shoulders. Throughout the day he would come through the center and put his paw on my shoulder while I was driving or lean in for a kiss on his nose. He was so affectionate, yet would shift to work mode if he heard the dispatcher raise us, “K9-1”?... He would start barking. It was time to work, Mom.

We were there for the officers. We were their back-up. To search for suspects that had got away or to just handle a call because it was safer to use a police dog. Rollo never recognized danger. He never knew that I was asking him to go first so that our officers could go home safe to their families. I don’t think he would have backed down. He was inherently brave. He had it in him the day I picked him up. He would do anything for me. He earned the badge he wore, and then some.

He was captivating to watch during a search. He could work for hours, never tiring, never giving up. If it was summer and he came across someone’s pool, he would take a quick dip. I wouldn’t mind and my cover officers would usually laugh. If a homeowner happened to see, they would laugh too.

Rollo loved catching bad guys, stealing my Starbucks mochas when I got out of the car, treats from Peggy at the garage, and interrupting his shop friends to lean in for some pets - they never minded. He loved swimming, working on his relax, the pool waterfall, the hose. He loved Dr. Wong, his favorite nurse Leslie. He loved his K9 friends - Ace, Kona, Bosko & Iron. He loved making his rounds at SWAT briefings and roll-calls, our weekend naps, crawling up on his Aunt Chelle’s lap for scratches. He loved me.

And he adored kids. Demos for one class, the whole school. No problem, that meant more pets. He loved when I would idle through a neighborhood with all the windows down in-between calls. He knew exactly what we were doing. He knew if I saw kids, I would stop. Get out. Talk to them. Introduce Rollo who was already leaning halfway out, tongue out happy, waiting for a pet. During his 9 years of service, I used the dog that was too much to handle to make countless connections with the youth in our community and build trust between my uniform, our badges, and them.

Rollo was a warrior to the end. His spirit and bravery that he had as a pup never died. He never gave up on me on the streets and he never gave up at the end in his battle with cancer. I gave up for him.

On November 22, 2019 we stopped for our last peppermint mocha before heading one last time to VCA Animal Hospital. Rollo was surrounded with love - a few K9’s, our old partner Randy circling in the police helicopter above us, family, VCA staff that had cared for him. And loved him.

They say that we are partnered for a reason. That K9s are like their handlers, handlers are like their dogs.

They said he was too much to handle.

I guess we were perfect...

You were never too much for me, Rollo. Find ‘em buddy. Get ‘em outta there... I’ll catch up to you ❤️

Sorry we have been super MIA lately. We are going to announce some exciting things early next year but with change comes the end of an era. This little girl will more than likely be the last puppy we donate as a K9. But man, after 20 donated dogs, are we going out with a bang!

This video is super long. Almost 12 and a half minutes. What’s impressive about this is that this is a four month old puppy that continues to hunt for that long and would have kept going had we allowed her. We do this to help teach them to use their nose and problem solve. At first she’s almost frantic just air scenting because she is SO food motivated but you see her calm and start to think through things. You can see her brain kick in during a few parts when she has to work out how to get to the food. I don’t know if we have ever produced a puppy this food motivated with this sharp of a mind and no hesitancy with environmental factors. She is going to be an amazing K9!!

Mega props to breeder keeper, Sara McKenzie for her hard work raising this litter. She did a phenomenal job!!

I don’t even know how to begin explaining what these two guys mean to me. Jason and his beautiful wife, Dani are good friends of mine who we met through our sweet K9 Joker. As a fellow police wife in our state, Dani reached out to me for help in finding support for a double hip replacement their poor Joker needed at a very young age. Through our networking, we found the MOST amazing couple who offered to pay for the entire surgery which topped $7000 if I recall correctly. Joker went on to have the surgery and it helped his pain levels and allowed him to have a healthier life.

In October 2018, I woke up with the most devastating news that Jason was in a bad motorcycle accident. However, his recovery was going so well and I believe he and Dani were getting to discuss a release date with the doctors when he unexpectedly passed away. To say it was hard was a huge understatement. I’ve watched his amazing wife be so brave in the face of his deep loss and has been strong because of their children and Joker.

Last night I learned of a second huge blow. The dog that brought us and a whole community together is gone. Dani’s lifeline and protector passed away in her arms. He was THE sweetest boy and had an amazing career finding many drugs and taking them from the streets.

If you are so inclined, say a little prayer or words of comfort for Dani, her children and the community that loves this guy.

Godspeed, Joker. Take care of your daddy up there.

What is the most spoiled thing your pet does?

All of our animals are not really divas but sometimes I put Helo and Boris on the other side of a baby gate and won’t let them come into my office if they are wrestling and I have a conference call. So they both put their heads on the stairs and watch me with sad eyes, sighing loudly every so often so I don’t forget they are there.

They also are accustomed to having my toast crust in the mornings. So if I am distracted with work and I have crusts on my plate just sitting there not being eaten, Lincoln will slowly put his whole body up on the chair, pressing into me with all his weight while looking at the crusts until I give it to him. Persistence pays off sometimes!

In a few hours we load up this crazy boy (here helping me make dinner) to meet his new handler in Denver. It’s about halfway for each of us and I’m laying here trying to sleep but I’ve got so many thoughts running through my head about Schotzy. He was named for an amazing man who lost his battle with cancer and our fairy Dogfather and mother The Chards intentionally gave him this name as an 8 week old puppy because he had great drives at that age and I knew he’d be successful as a K9. He was raised by the most amazing puppy raiser and she tearfully gave him back to us a few months ago because she deployed fighting for us oversees. We are so beyond proud of her sacrifice and service to our country and hope we did her proud continuing the foundation she set.

We hosted his new handler at our house a few weekends ago and I’m proud to call him friend. I absolutely adore him and I know he is going to do great things with this boy. He sure has his quirks like muzzle punching you with a toy in his mouth in an attempt to get you to play (I blame the Malinois part of him. Lol!!) and his new dad saw through them and loves him anyway. We could not ask for more.

Schotzy is the 19th dog we have donated and the first out of state dog. A milestone for our organization. I knew this wild man had a bright future ahead of him and I can’t wait to hear stories of his successes. Pictures and announcement of the department he is helping to protect will be posted once he is certified. For now, I’m just happy to give him to a doting handler to help keep him coming home to his sweet wife and two baby boys. ❤️

Stay safe out there, boys.
