This post is for our wolf customers.
If you have purchased a new wolf range within the past 3 years, and it won't turn on. Open the display and set the time.
If you have not connected the unit to Wi-Fi and you've lost power, the machine will require for you to set the time.
If the time is not set, the ovens will not work.
And another little tip, if turning the red k**b to change temperatures is not working. Try pulling it out and putting it back in.
This might help eliminate an unnecessary service call or an extended wait time to get your machine back in working order.
We are always here to help you if either of those things does not work.

I shouldn't have to mention this but people can be selfish.

If you have a contagious illness of any form. Or if you suspect you do , This includes the "Common cold"
You may feel like this is not a big deal, but when you've got a cold you don't like it. So don't give us a cold.
Covid right now is going bonkers. I don't want that either.
Please respect us, our health, our families, the people we work with and the dozens of customers we visit every week.
If you are sick, please reschedule your appointment.

Spring is finally here. I hope your gardens are blooming.

I wanted to let everyone know that we do not have our phones on us nights and weekends.
The office is closed on weekends and the techs turn their devices off when they are not working.
Please don't think we're ignoring you. We just like to keep work and personal lives separate.
We will respond to you as soon as possible the next day we are working.

Thank you
James

This is a kindly reminder that we don't carry every part for everything we service on our truck.
We are also not the factory. If you are having a difficult time contacting or scheduling something with the factory, that is not our fault.

What can you do to help facilitate a faster repair?
1. Be kind, not kidding we'll bend over backwards for you if you are kind to us.
But also keep in mind we can't move scheduled customers to a later date to service your product sooner.

2. Provide a COMPLETE model and serial number. You can email or text pictures of it to us.
Having all of the information on the tag can sometimes allow us to pre-diagnose and order parts before the visit.
Brand new products don't always have immediate repair parts available. So occasionally we have to wait for them.

3. Provide us with a clear and detailed description of what your issue is.
"Won't work" doesn't help us.
Error codes, noises, lapse time to the noise, fault code or issue is helpful.

4. Understanding.
Please understand that we are people too. We have lives outside of work. And we have feelings . We have families and relationships that need our attention.
We work 8 to 12 hours a day.
Please understand and forgive us. For wanting to spend time with our loved ones. This means that sometimes one of our children is unexpectedly sick and requires us to stay home and tend to that child.
Other times we can get sick.

I might be missing another bullet point in there, but what this all boils down to is just be cool and we'll get along just fine.

We never want you to wait any longer than necessary to have your product back up and running.

I'm not sure what's in the water or the air or if the moon is in the right position of the sky, but lately we've had some people get real nasty with us.
And if you've ever talked to Faith who answers our phones and tends to the office duties daily, it's a wonder that anybody could get angry at her.

The fastest way to be turned down for service is to be unkind and rude.

We don't like turning away customer for two reasons.
we don't get paid
And that's a missed opportunity for us to help you and get you back up and running.
And you're now having to be inconvenienced that much more

Just be kind

Fall is here! We're excited for some cooler weather and delicious cooking.

We have a few announcements to make.

#1
When it comes to Sub-Zero wolf and cove products, we highly recommend having an authorized servicer take care of your appliance needs.
The main reason for this is that we know all the little things about these products and what they need, and if we don't we can find out very quickly.
This will help save you time and ultimately money.
Our number one goal is to provide the best service we can as accurately as possible.
With that being said...
We certainly can make mistakes. But as soon as we discover those mistakes, we correct them as quickly and honestly as possible.
Once again, it's important for everyone to know that we are not out to take advantage of anybody, to put more parts on or do additional service that is not needed. We are far too busy to play those games. It is much more difficult to run a business like this dishonestly than it is to just do good work.

Now on to housekeeping
Please be careful cleaning your gas cooktops.
The aluminum burners are not designed to be cleaned or polished with any type of chemical cleaner.
This usually clogs up the simmer burner portion along with the main burner up top
We understand. It's lovely to have somebody come in and clean your range for you. It just feels so nice to enter your kitchen and see it sparkling like it's new.
One of the problems we run into with cleaning companies is some of them use ammonia-based cleaners or oven cleaner.
This causes rapid oxidation and corrosion of the aluminum which then can cause the screws to sieze into the burner bases.

Next up is a PSA about filters.
I would love to never sell another filter again. I am not out to sell filters.
However, please avoid Amazon filters at all costs.
There are generics out there which we don't know what type of filtration they are providing along with the fact that they are copies of the original OEM filter. that means they may not fit properly and often get stuck into the manifold that they plug into. They can also cause leaks and floods.
There are also counterfeit filters being sold that look very similar to the real deal, we often can tell which ones are counterfeits.
We encourage you to purchase filters directly from Sub-Zero or an authorized servicer or retailer.
We know they are expensive, but there's security that comes with buying a factory filter.

Second to last but not least, and I believe that this is the most important thing right now for everyone to hear.

Do not self-clean your ovens until after the holiday cooking season.
Most times self-clean is perfectly safe, but sometimes on an aging machine. Strange things can happen.
We want to be able to help you get through your big cooking sessions without a hitch.
This also means calling us if you need service now on that oven or cooktop, we are usually booked out to Thanksgiving by the end of October. Please do not wait to call for service on your machines.

Last thing I want to mention is communication.
We made a post earlier about leaving voicemails, and we still stand by it.
If you call and don't get an answer right away, it's probably because we're on the other line. You can follow that phone call up with the text message or leave a voicemail and we will call you back as quickly as possible.
Please have your model and serial number handy when you call us.
This will allow us to pre-diagnose your machine and bring parts with us so we can get you fixed in one visit instead of two.
Videos and pictures of problems are also extremely helpful.
I will follow this post up with locations of model numbers on Sub-Zero products at a later date.

Enjoy this cooler weather!!

14/07/2023

Summer is in full swing!
Ice makers and ice machines and refrigerators are breaking left and right!
Not really. But it does seem like it happens more during the warmer months.
I think this is purely coincidental.
Mostly....
Our houses are a little bit warmer now than they typically are during the winter months.
Problems that were there during the winter months just become a little more recognizable during the warmer months.

Some of the ways that you can help maintain your products to prevent from seeing us, is cleaning your condenser coils.

Sub-Zero coils can be very easy to clean depending on your model.
If you are unsure, we encourage you to refer to your use and care guide. That will give you full instructions on how to do so.
Most people at this point are vacuuming their coils. Using a vacuum can be risky. I have seen some extremely damaged coils because people are not too delicate with the vacuum hose.
Over the past year I have been using a kind of large pipe cleaning type brush. Stiffer bristles and I just go up and down with the fins.
At that point you can vacuum what's left over off of your brush or off of the floor.
Ice machines are critical to clean those coils as well.
The Sub-Zero ice machine coils are a little more complex, more than half of them are not visible from the bottom of the unit.
Just be careful use that brush and you'll do just fine.

We are more than happy to help you if you are uncomfortable doing this preventative maintenance yourself.

There is one serious matter I would like to discuss.
That is attitudes. We do our best to present our best, as best we can.
I feel like we do a really good job of this.
Sometimes the news we have to deliver is not the news you want to hear.
Sometimes we have to order parts, and sometimes parts are back ordered.
We are also booked out regularly 2 weeks. Sometimes less depending on the season.
But average is about 2 weeks.
We wish we could get to you faster, we wish we could get back out faster. But there is order in this chaos.
If parts for your ice machine did not arrive before our first visit or are back ordered and take a little longer to come in, please be patient and please be kind to us. It is not our intention to make things difficult for you.
Also if we offer advice such as " turn the unit off so we can prevent this other component from failing" it's only in the Spirit of helping you as efficiently as possible.
If you disregard that advice after we have come out and diagnosed one component, and we return to find that the other component has failed because our advice was not heeded, we will have to order parts again, causing a longer delay in the ultimate repair of your product.

Some brands we service a lot more than others which allows us to come out prepared with parts since we stock those parts.
Other brands we don't service very much at all, so inventory is non-existent. We have to order parts as needed.

Please be patient and kind with us during this process. It doesn't help us when we're sneered at or laughed at, or there's a 15 second long pause after we share the scheduling information.

We thoroughly enjoy helping people. I love seeing someone smile and feeling their gratitude when I've been able to help them. This is one of the biggest benefits of what I do for work. It may not be as glorious as a doctor or a Michelin starred chef. But it's one of the things I've been able to take pride in over the years.

At this point we're mostly servicing sub-zero and wolf products.
We still service asko, Scotsman and a few others. If you're not sure, send us an email or call.

Thank you again for your business.
I know some of you don't feel like you have a choice since it's under warranty.
We also know that you don't want to have to call us. All we ask is kindness, if you can't provide that. Polite silence is preferred.

Happy late February!

It feels like April though!

It's been a while since we've made a post.
So we figured we would catch you up on how things are going with us and do a little housekeeping.

First we want to thank all of you for your business, and your referrals. It truly means the world to us that you trust us with your appliances.
We work very hard to make sure that you can trust us, and that our ultimate goal is returning your appliance to its peak operating condition to the best of our abilities.
Humble brag... our abilities are pretty good.
With that being said, sometimes a machine wants to be a little more challenging than others.
One of the reasons we only service machines that we are factory authorized for, it's because of the support we get from the factory with challenging problems.
Together and occasionally a phone call to a friend or two in the industry we are able to get those weird problems fixed.
We have a fantastic network of servicers in this area, if there was a brand we don't service we can certainly recommend a good company to take care of you.

I would also like to point out a few things that we feel are very important, that affect appliances and warranties on those appliances.

Outdoor ice machines should be winterized.
I won't go through the details as to how to do that, but please read your manual. It's in there. If it's not, a phone call to the factory will get you that information.

I think it's important for everyone to know that we are not out to take advantage of anybody. We have rules we have to follow when it comes to warranty service. Those rules are your warranty contract that is in your use and care guide. When you call for service you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of that contract.
If there is something that is so grossly outside of that contract as to whether or not it would be covered we sometimes have to be the bad guy and let you know.
It is never in an attempt to charge you extra money for a repair.
Pest infestations for instance are not covered under warranty.
What's worse is that if a mouse gets into or nearby a machine in which you are ingesting product from, you could get severely ill.

Please read your manuals, I don't mean sit down in the easy chair with your feet kicked up by the fire reading the manuals to your family at night.
But cruise through them, especially with products that you are entirely unfamiliar with.
No appliance that I know of is a maintenance-free appliance.
It is your responsibility to read that manual, it is your responsibility to understand the terms and conditions of your warranty.
We are happy to help educate, we do so very often.
We have to submit all sorts of paperwork to the factory so that they can review the work order and pay on that claim.
If any part of that falls outside of terms and conditions of your warranty, The claim will often get rejected and we will not get paid for the work.

One more thing and I'll try to make this brief.
Sometimes our schedule allows us to return with parts within a week, those times are rare.
We do have half of our day set aside to return with parts that we have ordered.
Those slots get filled up just as fast as the fresh calls.
We never want you to wait any longer than necessary to have your machine up and running.
We do everything we can including monitoring and updating a very active cancellation and reschedule list.
Please be patient with us.

Thank you for all the trust you place in us.
And we hope we can help you in the future.

03/10/2022

October is here and so is autumn.
I know many of you are planning and preparing for the upcoming cooking season.
I hope you're just as excited as I am!
Once again this is our annual reminder on how to get the most out of your products this season.

1. Do not self clean your oven until January. Self cleaning gets very hot and sometimes can cause some weird problems.
Now is not the time to risk something happening that would require a service call.

2. When baking cookies, cakes, biscuits or anything in your oven that is going to be spread out, preheat your oven for an extra 15 to 20 minutes. I know it seems excessive but I promise the results will be far more favorable and your dishes will come out perfectly cooked.

For those of you with a 36-in range, preheat your oven for 45 minutes.

3. Do not use ammonia or oven cleaner on the top of your cooktops, rangetops, and ranges.
Mild soap and water, And do not saturate your burners.

4. Change the filters in your refrigerator, if you're Sub-Zero is newer you will have two. an air filter and a water filter.
Do not buy those on Amazon. Many of the sellers are selling counterfeits or generics.
Only purchase from an authorized retailer, servicer, or the factory's website.
We don't want you to have to get new floors because the generic caused damage to your filter housing.

Last but not least. If you're appliance needs service for the upcoming cooking season. DO NOT wait to schedule service.
We want to fix your products so that you can enjoy cooking. We do our best to stock up on the most common components needed to repair your machines in one visit.
The sooner we can get out there, The sooner you can stop stressing.
Around this time of year we take on extra calls daily so that we can get you taken care of as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for all of the work. We will continue to do our best for you.

I NEED YOUR HELP! 16/09/2022

For those of you who know me personally and from discussions we've had professionally, you may know that I'm a tech geek.
One of my favorite reviewers of cell phones is this man Jerry Rig.
Over the years he's done a lot of good in his community and now he's doing some good in Kenya. They are building a library and a fresh water supply.
If we have an appointment coming up and you would like to donate books to this library. I will ship those along with the ones we will donate.
If we do not have an appointment and you have a desire to donate books, you can bring them to our office. Or you can drop them off at my wife's bakery.
Donations need to be in by the end of September so we can ship them out.
If you would prefer to ship directly the address is in the link.

You are more than welcome to share this post or share the video.

It's been a while since we've made a post
Buckle up this one's going to be long

We have had a few staffing changes over the past few weeks and months.

Faith is who you're talking to on the phone when you're scheduling a service call.
Nicole is our new part-time person who files our claims and occasionally fills in for Faith.

We went through a stretch there where we were booked out over a month.
It's a bit more reasonable now.

Over the past 10 months we have been reevaluating the relationships we have with manufacturers. There has also been a greater need for us to be available for certain brands.
As you can tell we've removed quite a few brands from our service list.

Here is a new updated list of what brands we service
Sub-Zero
Wolf
Cove
Asko
Frigidaire
Electrolux
Lacornue
Lacanche
Best / broan
Summit
Perlick - tbd
Speed queen
Dacor tbd

If the brand is not in this list, we don't service it.
Thank you everyone for your referrals over the past 9+ years it has been the driving force behind our business.

If you weren't aware last year and the year before we have received high praises from Sub-Zero and Wolf, last year we were one of three servicers in the entire US to achieve 100% customer satisfaction.

That same service we provide to our Sub-Zero customers is the same service we provide to every customer.

I know we are still dealing with parts supply issues. We want to get your product fixed as fast as you do, we don't get paid until it's fixed. Within a matter of hours of us receiving parts, customers are called to be placed back on the schedule.
I know it can be challenging having to wait for a repair, especially for refrigerator or a washing machine or any product that we rely on daily. We are doing our best to get back to you as quickly as possible.

Now on to some advice and tips for the coming autumn and winter season.

Do not, And I repeat! Do not self-clean your oven in November or December!

Self cleaning your oven raises the temperature inside the oven to over 900°.
While most times self cleaning your oven is perfectly fine and safe, there is always a small possibility of something going wrong.
Self clean your ovens now, give us plenty of time if something is to go wrong to come out and get you fixed before you really need it in November and December.

Do not place aluminum, or any other material on the bottom of your ovens. That material will melt or cause other problems with your oven liner.
If you're trying to keep the bottom of your oven nice and clean, put a cookie sheet on the bottom rack.

If you have a steam oven clean the interior regularly and descale it when it tells you to.

If you have an ice machine, run the clean cycle with the proper solutions when it calls for it.

The filters inside your refrigerator have a maximum life of one year. If you have a water filter in your refrigerator for longer than 1 year, it can also cause ice production issues And it's pretty yucky.
Clean your condenser coils on your Sub-Zero products.

Clean your door gaskets and the surface on the cabinet where the gasket seals.

For ranges:
Don't get crazy and trying to keep your burners looking shiny and new, that is a great source of work for us. Sometimes you can clog up the burners or cause ignition issues.
Make sure your electrode is clean and clear of debris. (The white ceramic piece with a metal rod on the burner)

If your washing machine sounds like an airplane taking off, it's probably got a bad bearing and it's not worth fixing.

We are so grateful for your business.
We will always do our best for you regardless if you have a Frigidaire or a Sub-Zero.

DO NOT RUN YOUR SELF CLEAN CYCLE UNTIL AFTER THE HOLIDAYS!

Photos from RVA Repairs LLC's post 16/11/2021

It's hard to believe this year is just a few weeks from being over and 2021 has certainly been one for the books. We wanted to take a little time to give you some updates on what we're seeing and a few appliances we have available from our Out of Box Inventory. First and most importantly we want to address parts and turn around time, supply chain issues continue to lag us all down. Part stock is used as fast as it becomes available and many manufacturers struggling to meet demand. Just today we received a part that we have had on order since the beginning of August! If you've called the office recently for service you also have heard a new voice on the other end, that's Faith and we are very happy to have her on board. Don't worry John is still here, they're just busy handling all the behind the scenes stuff, like this Facebook post. Technician James and Jason are working hard to ensure if they can fit a customer in earlier we are. As you start holiday shopping remember to shop local, with that said here's a list of what we currently have available for immediate pickup (delivery is available if needed for an additional charge). If you are currently having issues with any of your appliances (especially your ranges and ovens) we suggest giving us a call to get on our schedule to get those resolved prior to the holidays.

And our yearly reminder: ***Please do not run your self cleaning cycle prior to the holidays. Wait until you've cooked all those wonderful meals and start your new year with a clean oven.***
