Healing in the Margins is a Nashville-based non-profit focused on cultivating systemic change in mental health for those who are BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ in our community. The proceeds from this performance will directly contribute to the Healing in the Margins Therapy Fund for community members.

SUN JULY 14: Portara is generously partnering with Healing in the Margins to bring you, Sanctuary. Portara Ensemble is a 32-voice chamber choir that has established itself as a creative force in the Middle Tennessee music scene. Their innovative programming and artistic collaborations have crossed the boundaries of the visual and performing arts, and community partnerships have had a direct impact on the mission and visibility of Nashville’s non-profit community

We’re all still feeling the love since last weeks performance with Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee ❤️ seeing music bring so much joy is the best feeling

Portara Ensemble partnered with the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee today in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day. We performed on the floor of the TN House of Representatives, and received a standing ovation - not a dry eye in the House! Speaker Sexton usually comes down for a photo op with groups being recognized. Today he had the entire chamber come up. We're told that's never happened before. A beautiful (if rare) moment of unity and joy in the State House. Happy World Down Syndrome Day!

Amid the headlong tumble into holiday frenzy, Portara Ensemble invites you to enter a moment of calm and beauty as we offer New-Fallen Snow: A Winter Meditation. The concert features a diverse selection of newly composed works that blend familiar melodies with fresh sounds, all celebrating the wonder and awe inherent in the traditional narratives of the season - the joy of welcome, the possibility in the darkness, and the love that opens in us when we make space for the holy. Donations at the door will benefit Room in the Inn, an organization dedicated to finding shelter for all through the power of community care.
