4-H Livestock Reminder!

Chicken and Rabbit tag-in tonight from 4-6!!!

4-H shooting sports practice has been canceled this evening due to high temperatures and heat index. We’ll try again next Monday!

We are loading the bus up and getting ready to leave camp within the next 30 minutes! We should arrive at the office at about 4:30! We will post on this page or let Mary at the office know if we have any bumps in the road! 🍀🍀🍀

Late night post! We had a packed, full of fun day! The kids got to do their classes, we did carnival games, sally down the alley, snowball, and camp fire! So pleased with our camp group! We have some great campers, teen counselors, adults, and interns! 🍀 Can’t believe tomorrow is the last day!

Day 2 @ 4-H camp! We were blessed with much cooler temps that made for an awesome day. First full day of classes, messy games, slip and slide, and foam machine! We can’t wait for tomorrow! 🍀🍀🍀

Wow what a day! We are getting in our beds to rest up for a fun day tomorrow! If you don’t see your camper, not to worry I’ll try and get a picture of them tomorrow! We had a great first day! What a great camp group 🍀

We have made it safely to camp! We have put our stuff in cabins and are now doing camp orientation! Pictures to come tonight! 🍀

‼️IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION‼️
✅ Please arrive at the Elliott County Extension Office between 6:45-7:00am Tuesday (tomorrow!) Morning!
✅ You will need to check in at arrival to ensure your registration is completed/ get a lice check.
✅ All Medication will be turned in to the medication table, where it will be labeled and kept secure until we reach camp. It will then be given to our Health Care Provider to administer.
✅ You may send cash with your camper, it will be turned in to our "banker" Morgan/Ally who will keep it secure until camp store opens up. There will be several times throughout the week to shop. The campers will return their money to the banker after each shopping trip. This will be returned to them at arrival to the office on Friday.
✅ Time will vary for pickups on Friday so stay tuned for that. We should be back around 4:00-4:30pm but again that time can vary. We will try to post when we leave camp on this page.
✅ All Camp Updates will be posted on this page and shared on the this page! Updates will be available as soon as we arrive to camp. Phone and Internet services are not great at camp, but we will do our best to update with photos as often as possible. Keep checking back!

4-H CAMP REMINDER:

Tonight at 5pm and 6pm we are having 4-H Camp Orientation at the Elliott County Extension Office in the meeting room! We are having 2 orientations to spread people out so you can come at either 5pm OR 6pm for your convenience!

Please make every effort to come with your camper or teen! If for some reason you can't make it please let us know by calling (606) 738-6400. 🍀

We have 4-H t-shirts and crew necks for sale!

T-shirts are $20 and we have sizes adult small-2XL.

Crewnecks are $30 and we have sizes adult small- 2XL. (Same design for t-shirts and crewnecks)

These are great for anyone that has ever been involved or a supporter of 4-H! Money from these shirts and crew necks go to benefit 4-H camp scholarships! Stop by the office and get yours! We are open 8am-4:30pm with a break for lunch from 12-1. We can take cash or check! Thank you 🍀

You’re invited!!

Elliott County Extension Office is hosting a Field day this Saturday June 29, 2024 from 10:00am- 2:00pm.

There will be booths set up to showcase some of the things Elliott Extension does and some of the great businesses we work with.
A local lavender producer from right here in Elliott County will be doing a demo on lavender Extraction, and 4-H Agent Morgan Murphy will be talking about raising honey bees as she does a demo on honey extraction from the hive we have here at the extension office.
4-h Livestock will be bringing some animals and answering questions about the club and their 2024 livestock projects.
Elliott County Soil conservation will have their rental equipment on display and will have a representative there to answer questions on each machines and talk about the rental process.
Soil Conservation will also be doing a "Build A Bird House" workshop, where you can build your own bird house that will be yours to take home.
Farmer’s Market will be open and selling fresh produce, along with local craft vendors.
Other local businesses such as Hinton Mills and The USDA Loan office will be set up to display what they have to offer as well.
There will be a FCS recipe to sample and the Elliott County 4-H club will be selling hamburgers and Hotdogs to raise money for 4-H Camp.
It will be a fun and educational day for the whole family ! Come out and join us! We hope to see you there!

We must have all paperwork and fees by July 1st!

We will NOT be having tag-in this Saturday due to vet availability. I will know in the next day or so for sure when the new tag-in date with an available vet and will be. The office will call parents to inform everyone.

Today we had a great tour of SugarLoaf Mountain Meats & Processing facility! We learned about meat chickens, different ways to raise them on pasture, and how they process them! This was an excellent tour that was educational and fun! Definitely check this place out if you are local to the Morehead area and need to purchase chicks, different cuts of chicken to cook yourself, or get your own chickens processed! Thank you Tim and Nathan for having us!🐓🐥

We love bees over here! Did you know our office has a hive of honeybees and has had a 4-H bee club? Currently, we are trying to get our bees to make honey so we can have our bee club learn to extract it!! 🐝🐝🐝

On Wednesday our 4-H Teen Leadership Academy had our final meeting. This group of 5 (we were missing 1) 4-Hers met monthly with Fleming, Morgan, and Menifee counties to learn about different businesses and leadership topics.

For our last meeting we went kayaking at The Gorge Underground, followed by pizza and ice cream!

I’m very proud of these 4-H leaders and we are looking forward to similar programs next year! 🍀🛶
