My Evangel Temple Family, Chico and I Celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary on 8/26/24. He passed away of natural causes 7 days later on 9/2/24 at home after a long illness. I was there with him. He was a loving devoted husband and a dedicated Christian. He loved Jesus Christ and was a true prayer warrior. ET was his church home. Thank you for all of your love and prayers. Tina Fuller

BJ sent these photos to us to post on the page. How many of you remember the old Evangel Temple Choir bus? We went to the west coast a couple of times in this bus on choir concert trips. Those were some great trips and times of ministry. Thanks for the photos BJ.

Billye Baarda passed away recently. She was a long time ET member and ran the church's daycare for some time. Billye was a dear friend and always was there for anyone who needed support. Her memorial is listed on the blue graphic for those who would like to attend her memorial service. One more ET'er who has joined the ET choir in Heaven. Be sure to hold her son Shayne and the rest of her family up in your prayers.

New Year's Eve Candlelight Service

Do you remember the New Year’s Eve Candlelight Services we used to have at ET? We would all gather at the church on New Year’s Eve, make a long line of people around the wall of the sanctuary, and go from person to person so everyone could share what was in their hearts for the coming year. Then we would light our candles and close with prayer and singing.

Well, we are going to try something this year… a Virtual New Year’s Eve Candlelight Service. We will be encouraging past ET members to come to the ET page and post your testimony and expectations for the new year on the page.

You will also be able to check back throughout the day to see what people have shared and respond to their posts. We do not know how many ET members will participate, but if it goes well, we could make this an annual event, just like the event we had so many years ago. So, go to www.Facebook.com/EvangelTempleNashville anytime between now and New Year’s Day and leave your testimony. Let’s see how many testimonies we can get!

Merry Christmas to all of our ET family. In spite of all of the craziness going on in the world, we are blessed to have an eternal relationship with the Creator of all things. May the Lord bless each and every one of you and keep you until the day we all will walk those streets of gold, together hand in hand. Love and peace to you all.

Some have asked about going to the old ET church to help the current church clean up after the tornado. I contacted the pastor and he said they were going to be there this Saturday to work on it. He said he would love to have any of the ET members come and help them. If you are in the area and can make it to the church on Saturday, just tell Pastor Johnson who you are and see how you can help. I do not know what time they will be there, but I feel you could arrive late Saturday morning and find someone there.

I just found out that our beloved Evangel Temple church building was hit by the tornado that went through Madison on Saturday night. From the only photo I have so far (attached to this post), it looks like it was a total loss. It is sad to know that our one-time church home is forever gone, but it will live on in all of our memories of the great times of seeing many people coming to the Lord, the songs of the Evangel Temple Choir, the inspired sermons of Pastor Snow, the Friday night/24-hour prayer meetings, the Three Nails play each year, the New Year's Eve Candlelight Services, the wonderful fellowship of our church family and much, much more.

Currently, the church has been the home of another fellowship of believers, Community Baptist Church, who have collected their own memories of blessed times. Let's be sure to remember them in prayer as they pick up the pieces of their church and decide on their future.

For those who wish, leave a comment below about your favorite memories of Evangel Temple. Also, if anyone comes up with any other photos of the damage to the church, please post them here or send them to me by email, [email protected].

My greatest memory is that I accepted the Lord into my heart on a Sunday night revival service preached by Rev. Tommy Barnett on August 25, 1968 and was filled with the Holy Spirit about 6 months later. While I have been far from perfect in my spiritual walk, I continue to serve the One who always has been perfect from before the beginning of time.

God Bless all of you as we share this loss of part of our joint life experiences of times past.

Tommy Gibbs

We have just heard that Bruce Osborne has gone on to be with the Lord. The details of his service have not been provided yet, but I will post them as soon as I get them.

Bruce was an icon for the ET family. He had an impact on so many people throughout his life, but the greatest impact was his personal commitment to serving the Lord. I remember so many times hearing about him cutting up with my mother, Irene Gibbs, back stage at the GOGT and at church. She thought so much of him. And now Bruce is playing in the heavenly band along with so many of our friends and family from ET & GOGT. Bruce, we miss your smile, your laugh and your faithfulness. We WILL see you again my friend, but not quite yet.

Please keep Bruce's family in your prayers during this difficult time.

"Bruce Osbon is in the Baptist hospital. It looks he may be passing very soon."

Let's all be in prayer for Bruce and his family.

Please be in prayer for my sister-in-law Tammy Gibbs, wife of Jerry Gibbs. She has cancer and the prognosis does not look good. She and Jerry are going to a healing service tonight for prayer and have asked for prayer from their friends for tonight and beyond. Tommy Gibbs

Merry Christmas to all of our ET family! While we are separated by miles, we are united by the Spirit of God and the love we have for each other. May the coming year be filled with unexpected blessings for each of you. And may your walk with the Lord grow stronger each day.

1 Timothy 6:11
… pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

Pictures, pictures, pictures... if you have any from the Evangel Temple days, Grand Ole Gospel Time or any of the Israel trips, try to get them scanned and send them to me for posting on this page. It is really fun to try to remember everyone's name when we see the new pictures as they come in. Send them as attachments to [email protected]. If you want, you can scan a page full of pictures at one time and I can crop them in Photoshop for the page. It will be so much fun to see everyone from back in the 70's, 80s, 90s, and on.

I love all of you so much and miss all of the wonderful times we had together serving the Lord and enjoying the fellowship with each other. Thanks to each of you for your comments and questions and thoughts. I am so glad that you all are a part of our ET site. My prayer for you is that your love of the Lord grows stronger every day, that He meets all of your needs and that you always hold dear to your hearts the special times we all had in good old Evangel Temple. See you in Heaven if not sooner. May God bless you all! Tommy Gibbs

Sarah Frances Bullington sent us a few ET choir photos for our page (thanks Sarah) and is asking if anyone has any more pictures of the choir from 1973- 1985? She lost all she had in a fire.
