Thorn Wrestling
Wrestling camps for serious Youth & HS wrestlers. Time tested System that works at the highest levels
David Thorn's - Thorn Wrestling Camps were created with the idea of creating the ideal training environment. Small group camps of kids the same size and ability, out in the country for 3-5 days making for a NO DISTRACTIONS environment. At camp we teach a system of wrestling that helped the Thorn brothers - David, Mike, and Tommy - win a state record 11 state titles and become the only trio in Gopher history to each attain All American status.

Merry Christmas!🎄 We hope everyone had a very blessed day!
A good stance and learning how to move your feet efficiently is the foundation of wrestling from the neutral position both offensively and defensively!
With these benefits in mind here is our
❗️12 Week Stance and Motion Challenge to build winning habits leading up to wrestling season❗️
Weeks 1 & 2 - 1 minute every day
Weeks 3-12 bump it up 30 seconds every week until you hit 6 minutes in week 12.
In this video 6 basic skills are shown that we practice routinely during stance and motion but there are many many more a person could implement to get repetition.
1. Square stance - feet a little wider than shoulder width, knees bent, elbows in, circling side to side moving feet only a few inches at a time.
2. Attack Stance/Stagger Stance - move forward, move backward, trail leg foot at a 45 degree angle, most attacks happen from this stance and you should be able to shoot to both of your opponents legs from this stance.
3. Body Fake - Level change, jab step lead foot a few inches, hand fake. Keeps opponent off balance and guessing.
4. Head Hands Circle - First line of defense is your head. Bringing hands to mat forces head level to lower and train feet to retreat but then circle to an angle to score on a reshot or go behind
5. Sprawl - opponent got past our head and now we must stop them with our hips. Circle to the bent leg to score go behind
6. Shot - knee over toe, outside step, single leg knee spin. Learning how to change levels and pe*****te to opponents legs is one of the harder things to do in wrestling. Getting the reps in through stance and motion with no resistance is key.
The benefits of stance and motion are huge - strength and endurance in the legs hips low back and lungs, speed & timing, repetition of basic skills from neutral that win matches all without the necessity of a partner or even a wrestling mat.
Happy Labor Day from The Farm!🇺🇸
