Our Story
Thomas Knapp established our company in 1995 with over 30 years of experience in the field of Architecture and a strong background in Construction Management. We take pride in addressing our client's very specific needs and are always willing to tackle a new project of any Scope or Scale.
Having worked in Construction during High School and College, Tom gained valuable insight into the Construction Trades and learned the basics of Residential Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrical Systems, Roofing and Siding, Finish Trim and Custom Detailing. During college, he also supervised the College Woodshop teaching basic Shop Classes and honing his skills in Furniture Design and Hardwood Detailing and Finishes. He even worked as an intern at a Custom Furniture Design Company. Today, he often works with his hands on Construction Projects as Project Manager, Rough and Finish Carpenter, Tile Setter or even Landscape Installations.
Tom has also traveled extensively and has first hand experience with a wide range of historical architecture and culture. Having lived in Paris France during College, he was able to travel Northern Europe and see many of the great master architect’s works first hand. Since that time, he has traveled extensively to 49 of the 50 US States, Europe and Asia. He takes great joy in experiencing the cultural landscapes of the world and is always willing to talk with his clients about ways to inject rich details into their designs.
Our company is firmly rooted in Single Family Residential Architecture and has completed a wide variety of New Construction Homes and Remodeling in the City of Chicago and Suburbs. But we have also completed multi-family projects in the form of Townhomes, Row Houses, Apartment Buildings and Mixed Use Residential Commercial Projects - as well as Commercial Interiors, Restaurants and Bars, Doctors Offices and various Industrial Buildings as well. It is important to note that each of our projects is important to us and we make strong efforts to have personal relationships with each of our clients in order to design their project around the end user.
