Im usually very skeptical when I hear about a celebrity saying they've come to Jesus. I often assume it has something to do with an impending court case surrounding their bad behavior. But something about Russell Brand's story seems very genuine. He never uses his new faith as a means for self-promotion, but for self-reflection. I guess there could always be a "shallow soil" scenario that happens, but he really seems like a new creature. He's not only digging into the Scriptures, but also into great writers like Lewis and Tozer. I have followed him for a long time. I used to just listen to him to hear what the scoffers were up to when it came to mocking my faith in our culture. Now I see him defending it. It reminds me of what was being said of Paul in Galatians 1:23
"The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
