Block 2: Equine Theriogenology with Dr. Hayna at PUVH
Just finished week 2 of block 2 and wanted to photo dump before entering the weekend of physical exams and being on-call. This is block 2/17 of my equine tracking clinical rotations. I’m going to try to post about each one!
I have learned so much in such a short period about breeding management and have performed several procedures that are starting to make me feel like a legitimate veterinarian! Dr. Hayna has trusted me to perform transrectal palpations and ultrasounds, vaginoscopy exams, uterine lavages, and my first AI in a mare! On Monday I look forward to assisting with an embryo transfer and re-checking a mare helped get pregnant on block 1! Hope to get a picture with owner permission on Monday with this sweet mare because she is so gorgeous. I at least want one picture with my first patients while on clinics in my uniform 🤠🤓

Block 1: Caesar’s Entertainment Equine Specialty Center, Shelbyville, IN. This week marks the beginning of 4th year veterinary school clinical rotations! I am excited to gain more experience with racehorses and advance my lameness exam skills on this block. Livy and Binx are here with me staying in the hospital student apartment for the next 3 weeks! Stay tuned for more of our adventures this year which include trips to Rood & Riddle, Hagyard, Fairfield Equine, Grand Prix Equine, horse shows, Morocco, and more! 🤠
Performed my first Navicular Bursa injection this week and received my white coat! 🤠 Thanks to my family for coming to support me. 🤍

Last week concluded my Pre-Clinical DVM Student position working full-time at Purdue Large Animal Hospital. I learned so much about farm animal medicine in addition to neonatal foal care. I gained confidence in my knowledge and feel more prepared for clinical rotations next year. Here are some pictures of the massive new facility I had the privilege of working and learning in. Swipe to the end to see a surprise 🎃
Dreaming of warm weather, ponies, and palm trees 💭🌴🐴 I keep telling Orla one day we will be snowbirds, but right now I need to focus on school so I can pay for her luxurious lifestyle.
Starting 2023 with a selfie! ✨ Grateful for another trip around the Sun. ✨
Happy birthday Jesus! Wishing everyone a very happy holiday season. We had a great Christmas Eve with the fam getting dinner in Carmel, opening gifts, and finding the pickle in the tree! (A yearly tradition that I always win) 🎄❣️
Merry Christmas from my family to yours🎄❣️
Fall 2022 Semester✨
Veterinary school continues to be one of the greatest challenges I have faced, but it is also the most rewarding. Thank you to all my friends (two legged and four) who push me to be the best woman I can be.
I’d rather be warming up for this kind of class than studying for my Pharmacology test Friday 🤠

👇🏽🦄 Grateful to be this lady’s partner and for all of our support since 2017 when I purchased her as a 3 year old. It’s been a wild ride but we are just getting warmed up. It only takes one true believer to make a difference. You just have to make the choice to keep fighting for what you believe in. ✨
🤙🏽 🍀 ✌🏽
Orla and I moved up, and we were double clear!🥉🤩 Can’t sleep because I’m too excited to go faster tomorrow. Thank you so much for a great week , .8, our barn family, and 🎥

Living for days like these that remind me why I chose veterinary medicine ✨ I’ve seen and learned so much already shadowing at McDavitt Veterinary Clinic. Highlight of the first week has been preg-check ultrasounds because I have no experience in reproduction but I’m so excited to learn. 🤓🤠 Hoping I can soak up enough vitamin D and equine experiences this summer to motivate me through my second year of veterinary school. 🍀
Congratulations to Harley and on their new ! 🧡🤩 Grateful for their friendship and support since I moved back to Indiana in 2021. Harley and I have been friends since 2012 when I groomed for . I ran into him again at Jimmy William’s Wind Crest Farm in 2017. .mckim probably groomed him there. And then I bumped into him and Sandra in Fort Wayne at Kress Creek Farm in 2021

Orla’s jump-off for fifth. I think she likes pink ribbons. 🎀 We are making progress! She had some nice clear rounds last week at WEC. Thank you and .8 for all your help! And for videos. Although progress is not always linear and there are setbacks, I know Orla is special and I will always believe in her. 💕🦄
What motivates you? I needed a reminder this week.
