☀ Encourages growth in reading fluency and comprehension
☀ Strengthens vocabulary and develops awareness of more complex sentence structures
☀ Helps a person function in a world of ideas
☀ Is enjoyable
☀ Develops habits and skills such as:
- sustained attention span
- active imagination
- capacity for logical analysis and critical thinking

This year our students participated in the annual "1 Million Book Giveaway." Books were donated to the JCS East Campus, UB Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School, and For the Children Learning Center. Our students also served at Feeding South Florida and House of Hope during R.E.A.C.H. Week, and they ended the school year by participating in the "Chef for a Day" event at Quantum House where they prepared lunch for 55 house guests!
After studying Life Science this semester, students applied their knowledge of the human body, traits, genetics, and genetically modified organisms to a Shark Tank Project. 6th Grade QUEST Students worked in groups to design a new GMO that meets a global need and pitch it to “sharks.” Students had to research, explain how their GMO affected body systems as well as the traits from organisms they were using and for what purpose.
They explained the process of creating their GMO and the benefits of how it can help their groups chosen global need.
They worked very hard and their teacher was so proud of all the time and energy they put into making their ideas a realistic possibility. Special thank you to our “Sharks” Dr. Cohen, Mrs. Flesch, Mrs. Royston, and Mrs. Childers.
Thanks to all who celebrated Mrs. Lisa Chitty at her "Family Farewell" last week. We are grateful for The Gannon Family who hosted this gathering at Bolay Jupiter. We'll say it again...we love you, Lisa!
This week on Shark Tank...
Our 4th grade entrepreneurs presented their business ideas to a panel of principals, teachers and HS students! Prior to presentations, two 11th graders were kind enough to teach the four classes about what it takes to open up a company like the one their class has been working on this year. Aubrey and Brennan were chosen because their classroom concepts have become a reality.
More details on 700 South coming soon...🥳
Our elementary students presented full business plans, product samples, and even some fun demonstrations! Our JCS Sharks made many deals and were clearly impressed by what they saw our 4th graders create. Well done!
