The Florida legislature has passed a bill that if signed by the governor, the law would go into effect on July 1, 2022. It would mandate service on insurance companies through a created governmental portal.
Unfortunately, this is probably the start of a trend nationwide and could begin allowing the service of corporations on the Secretaries of State.

The Department of Financial Services' omnibus bill included several changes related to service of process on an insurance entity through the chief financial officer of the state of Florida. Among other things, the bill requires the Department of Financial Services to create a secure online portal as the sole means for the state CFO to accept service of process on insurers, domestic reciprocal insurers, certain unauthorized insurers, and licensed nonresident insurance agents, among other persons regulated under the Florida Insurance Code. The bill specifies that service of process may only be served on authorized domestic, foreign, or alien insurers via submission through the secure online portal. Once received via the portal, the CFO must promptly notify the served party and make the process available through the secure online portal to the person last designated by the insurer to receive such notice. If approved by the governor, these provisions take effect on July 1, 2022.

• Judge Jeanmarie K. Warren is reassigned from Dept. 13 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, 111 N. Hill St., Los Angeles, to the Governor George Deukmejian (Long Beach) Courthouse, 275 Magnolia Ave., Long Beach.
• Judge Patricia A. Young is assigned to Dept. 13 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. All matters previously assigned to Dept. 13 will be assigned to Judge Young for all purposes.
• Commissioner Armando Duron is reassigned from Dept. 6 to Dept. 87 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. All matters previously assigned to Dept. 87 will be assigned to Commissioner Duron for all purposes.
• Judge Josh Freeman Stinn is assigned to Dept. 6 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. All matters previously assigned to Dept. 6 will be assigned to Judge Stinn for all purposes.

Top Ten Reasons Why Most People Avoid Process Servers

1. I am afraid of the process server because he is bringing me bad news: a summons,
complaint, court order, foreclosure or eviction papers.

2. I will not give my spouse a divorce. If I accept the divorce papers, I will have to suffer
the consequences of assets redistribution, child support, new last name and separation
from my kids.

3. I do not want to pay for child support or fight for child custody or visitation in
Family Court.

4. I am behind with my mortgage payments. The process server must be bringing me a
foreclosure notice.

5. I did not pay the rent. The process server is trying to serve me with a demand for
payment.

6. I am behind with my credit card payments. The process server is trying to serve me a
debt collection notice.

7. I will not testify in this matter even if I am not a party to this action. I will avoid the
subpoena being served by hiding from the process server.

8. I will not let them take away my wages because of outstanding child support. I will
pretend that I am not here when the process server knocks.

9. I beat her up and abused her but I will not go to Family Court to answer her complaint
about domestic violence. Indeed I will let go of the dogs in the front yard so when the
process server comes to serve me with the order of protection he will have to run away.

10. I am a public officer, a public figure, an attorney, police officer, a high ranking member
of a religious group or a public employee. It is not right that I get served with a court order
because it is demeaning. Accepting a summons would belittle me. After all, I am the law.
