🚰 Hydration Is Key: Emphasize the necessity of regular water intake to stay hydrated, regardless of thirst levels. Employees should avoid sugary or caffeinated drinks as they can contribute to dehydration. Instead, they should consider opting for water, coconut water, or electrolyte-replenishing beverages.

👕 Encourage Protective Clothing: Encourage wearing loose, lightweight, and light-colored clothing to reflect the sun's rays. Also, applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher on exposed skin is essential, with reapplication done every two hours for maximum protection.

⏰ Schedule Wisely: Schedule work tasks in the cooler early morning or late afternoon hours. Teach your management team to keep an eye on the heat index, considering both temperature and humidity, as that can impact how hot it feels.

🌬 Cooling Areas: Urge employees to take breaks in air-conditioned or well-ventilated areas to avoid overheating.

🍉 Eat Lightly: Opt for smaller, lighter meals that are rich in hydrating fruits, avoiding heavy proteins that can increase metabolic heat and water loss. Salads, smoothies, and other digestible options are great for keeping the body cool.

They are called sentinel events, which is defined as a patient safety event not related to the natural course of the patient's illness or underlying condition that results in death, permanent harm, or severe harm.
The Joint Commission is an organization that works with and evaluates health care organizations to improve health care. It publishes a Sentinel Event Data Review each year to provide information about these occurrences. The data published for the 2023 annual review shows there were 1,411 reports of sentinel events. Most of the 1,411 reported events happened in a hospital setting. The most common causes of sentinel events, listed in order, were
1. patient falls,
2. the wrong surgery was performed,
3. unintended retention of a foreign object,
4. assault/rape/sexual assault/homicide,
5. delay in treatment, and
6. su***de.
