I thought you might like a peek at this recently completed powder bath with its brass details, pretty paper, and handmade cherry vanity. Tiny but mighty. 💪🏼
January is here and it’s all about organization for all the members of the family! 🐶
Whether you’re bringing in the new year with a quiet game night at home or headed to a party, here’s to you - wishing you a new year of wonderful moments! 🥂 Thank you all for a wonderful 2023! Happy New Year! 🎆
Finally some snow to go with this newly installed backsplash tile and holiday decor! 🌲
I’ve been spending a lot of time at my desk recently, and as usual I am so thankful for the work. Sometimes people ask what I do, so I thought I’d share a small taste of recent/current projects (just this month!):
-kitchen design revisions (we started in 2022, paused until the contractor was available, and now that he is ready we’re making final tweaks to the design plan!)
-local office conversion project with both interior and exterior changes to suit the new business
-renderings of exterior detailing on a new build (the brick placement, colors of finishes, fencing details, etc)
-kitchen renderings for a local Amish cabinet company (on their big projects they like to give the clients a really nice visual of the cabinets so they hire me!)
-addition + remodel design (they had a rough sketch from a contractor but I am helping them see how that will actually look and function)
-shopping for window treatments
-space planning for a client moving from one home to another - how will things fit?
-exterior photoshop project - mocking up a variety of options to update the look of their exterior
-basement remodel design for the new owners of a 1950s basement that’s never been touched.
Whew! 😅 I love it all so much! Every single project is a joy!
THANK YOU to clients past and present (and future) for making it possible for me to have this dream job!!
Hello! I see there are some new page follows here (thank you!) and I haven’t introduced myself in awhile! I am a Goshen native and started Red Door Design in 2007. I love helping clients source new finishes, rethink spaces, improve their home’s function and flow, add beauty, and express their vision. When I’m not doing that, I love to spend time with my family working on renovations and home projects, traveling, reading, and occasionally getting to an off broadway show (musicals are magical). I fuss over my hydrangeas in the summer and keep a fresh flower on my bathroom vanity at all times just because it brings me joy. Thanks for stopping by my page, and reach out anytime if you’d like help with your home!
Big or small I love them all!
I’ve worked on several kitchens that cost mid six figures and some light remodels that barely hit four. Most kitchen remodels in our area sit somewhere in the five figure range, though, if you want to plan realistically. And I find every kitchen a joy to assist with - each home has quirks and challenges and interesting details and homeowner preferences that make the kitchen unique. If you’re looking for help with your kitchen (or any other space in your home) I’d love to work with you!
Mondays can be fun! Enjoying coffee and jazz while I work. ☕️
It’s officially fall! 🍁 I celebrated with a Target shopping trip today and found the first touches of fall decor for my new kitchen. 🧡
All white, textural delight. 🤍
Four is better than five…at least when it comes to the length of the work week. 😀 I’ve got some floor planning, bathroom designs, and kitchen designing on the calendar for the week. What are you working on?
When we bought our home we found a dusty shelf piled with wallpaper remnants that were original to the home (1966). Now, 57 years later, I have new wallpaper installed and am getting ready to store leftover remnants “just in case”. History repeating!
Sometimes when you want to open up a wall in the kitchen you have to relocate appliances. In this case after presenting several layouts we all felt the best position for the range was under the window. It’s a little less conventional, but it turned out great, and I have to say it’s lovely to think of cooking with a view.
Happy weekend! ☀️
☀️ ☀️ ☀️
Now that summer is officially here, let’s start designing your project for next winter!
❄️ ❄️ ❄️
Working on tile and countertop selections this afternoon. Which tile is your favorite?
When you’re working with a small kitchen footprint, what a difference it can make to lighten up the cabinets and take them to the ceiling! I was so pleased to swing by and see this client’s completed kitchen - it looks even lovelier than the rendering!
I’ve narrowed down this front door color to three options. The differences are subtle, and all three look great against the brick. Which one is your favorite?
What makes this kitchen so wonderful? The mix of earthy materials in the shelves, table and brick? The cool freshness of the light cabinets and white counters? The warmth of a runner, flowers, and sunlight streaming in? I say it’s the juxtaposition of all of those, combined with knowing the clients who live there are lovely and full of light. ☀️
Happy Easter!
I recently had to move my printer and decided to tuck it into a nearby cabinet. With the backdrop of the grass cloth wallpaper and a few accessories I already had, it’s a surprisingly pretty little printer nook. Is it weird that I smile when I look at my printer? 😂 Here’s to making even the most utilitarian of items look lovely!
As I’m pulling together all of the samples for a new primary bath I thought I’d pause a minute and share them with you. Can you tell that micro-pebble (going on the shower floor) was the inspiration for it all?
I love creating kitchen designs of all kinds! Part of the fun is in problem solving the unique challenges of each space, combined with designing to each client’s personal taste and the history and character of the home itself. This is a peek into a rendering from a kitchen project that’s just getting started. I can’t wait to see the transformation from virtual to reality!
I had the privilege of being invited back into a wonderful client’s home for a new project, and snapped a picture of their living room that I designed last year. They requested color, and a space suitable for a young family but with respect paid to the heritage of the home. First picture is the room before, swipe for my rendering and then a picture taken today of the real room!
A peek at my workspace as I wrap up a kitchen design.
Thinking back to this sweet little bathroom completed earlier this year. We stole a little space from a spare bedroom closet to build in a bit of much needed storage!
It’s that time of year where I find myself wanting white, crisp, fresh neutral palettes. Give me a few months and I’ll be slinging yellow around (I crave it every spring) but right now I’m loving this.
Thank you all for your support in 2022! I have the best clients ever and can’t wait to work with you in 2023! Happy New Year!
Wishing you all a home full of warmth and joy during the holiday season! Time for cozy fires, delicious foods, and some relaxation…and in the spring we’ll all get back to those home projects! 😀🌲
Personal project time: I’m installing a new light ‘wood’ flooring in this room (goodbye old carpet!). It’s a kid’s room so we selected super durable laminate - it will lighten and brighten the space so much! What projects are you working on?
