I've been super impressed by all the amazing photos I've seen from the May 10-11 Northern Lights many of us experienced down in the lower 48 and around the World. Normally you have to travel to Alaska or Iceland way North but nothing like a G4 (briefly G5) geomagnetic storm to light things up. I live in Ridgefield, WA at latitude 45.77 so seeing the aurora this far South is pretty darn amazing. Even more amazing is we had clear skies. We joke around the Pacific NW about every big astronomical event will be cloudy that day.
These aurora photos were taken with a 16-35mm lens at f4.0 to let in more light and ISO 100 to reduce the noise. Then I played around with exposures from 15 - 30 seconds. Most of these are in the 20 - 30 second range. With the naked eye you could see the glow in the sky but no where near this bright as with a timed exposure.
I've seen the Northern lights in Alaska and up there you get more of the ribbons of light moving. The movement was pretty subtle this night but it was amazing how the colors constantly changed after each shot. Which one is your favorite?

The is having their annual art show at the Ridgefield Library. I have 2 pieces entered this year. “Supermoon Sunrise” and “Barred Owl Highlights” are in the community room. Stop by on First Saturday May 4th to see the show and vote for people’s choice award. The show will be up for the month of May.

My art booth is all setup for the Chickadee Bazaar on Dec 2 from 9-2 at the RACC in Ridgefield. This is part of the City’s Hometown celebration going on all day. We have a dozen artists with amazing art for sale so give the gift of art this holiday.

Give the gift of art this season. First Friday in downtown Vancouver on Dec 1 is the monthly art walk and in "Art at the Cave" gallery I am part of a large pop-up "small wonders" exhibit along with over 80 other artists and nearly 300 small pieces of art for sale. The show will be on display through the end of December so check it out if you get a chance.

Day late on but my roses are giving it one more go before shutting down for winter. Some plants think it is spring again.

Miracles of miracles the clouds part briefly for me to capture a few fuzzy shots of the annular eclipse. Yay. Pretty cloudy on the west coast. I’ll post the processed shots once I have them.

I have my art booth setup for the Ridgefield First Saturday Spring Festival. Turned out to be a lovely day. First show of the year. Always fun hanging out with other artists. We’re here from 9-2 on May 6.

TIs the season. My last art show of the year is going on Dec 3 at the Chickadee Bazaar in Ridgefield at the RACC. We have 16 artists with art for sale along with other Hometown celebration events going on around town.

A new show from the Ridgefield Art Association just went up in the Ridgefield Library. I have 1 piece in the show but it has a twist - there is a game of "I Spy" for visitors to play looking for items in each piece of art. What a great idea. Stop by and check it out!

Hot day at the Ridgefield Forest Fair to be selling art but sales have been good.

Just a reminder I will have my art booth setup Saturday, Aug 6 at the Ridgefield Forest Fair along with 30 other artists. Also my band is the opening act playing on stage at 11:00 - 12:30. My first art show in quite a while is going on today May 7 in downtown Ridgefield as part of the 1st Saturday Spring Festival. Nice to blow the dust off my art work.

My first outdoor art show of the season will be May 7 in downtown Ridgefield during the Spring Festival. Both my wife and I will have our art on display and for sale. I’m participating in my first art show in over a year. The First Saturday May Day event is going on in Overlook Park in Ridgefield. It’s nice to blow the dust off my artwork and getting to share it in public again. Yay!
