Wanna know what I think makes me a good photographer?
It’s not my fancy camera or top of the line lenses. It’s not my knowledge of editing, manual mode or the beautiful locations I get to shoot in.
It’s something I used to think was a flaw. That it made me too sensitive, too emotional. It’s my empathy and raw love for people and connection. The fact that I cry behind my camera every time a groom dances with his mom at a wedding. The way that every single time I meet your kids at a shoot, no matter their age, I think to myself “this season is going to pass so fast.. how can I best preserve it for them”. It’s the feeling I get when I realize the significance of what I’m capturing — the way your husband looks at you while you’re in the midst of what you think is just that annual holiday photoshoot chaos… when you see your teenager in their cap and gown for the first time… or the whisper mid-shoot asking if you can get a few extra pictures of Grandma. I get a sense of what you feel, how tender the emotions are and how important all of this is to you.
That is what makes me good at what I do. And it’s the part of this job that I love the most 💛

Want to know how I’m REALLY feeling since our big move?
It’s been almost one month since we packed up everything and drove across the country to settle into our new home in South Carolina. And I am falling more in love with this place every day. From the warm welcome we received from our neighbors, the fact that we’ve already found a church we love (& if you know how much we loved our AZ church home, you know this was no easy feat), to the way the photography industry here has embraced me with open arms.. It’s all been such a blessing. Obviously with any big transition, there are bumps in the road and some moments have been pretty dang tough. But as my (wise beyond his years) 16 year old reminded me today - focus on the good in every situation and you’ll always find more to be thankful for.. and goodness, I am so thankful 💛

There’s a lot to see and do in downtown Charleston so every day looks a little different but here’s a glimpse at a day with me around town. First things first.. The market is a must. Take your time through here - there are little treasures all over. Next stop is a stroll through the Shops at Charleston Place - and if you’re in the mood for some serious shopping, make sure you head over to King Street! There is no shortage of lunch options downtown but on this day, I was craving seafood and Fleet Landing was calling my name! You can’t beat those views. And to wrap it all up, a walk through one of the most iconic spots in downtown Charleston - Rainbow Row. No matter how many times you walk down these gorgeous streets, it never gets old! 💖 I fall in love with this city a little more every day

If you never listen to another thing I say, please listen to this.. schedule the photoshoot. Yes, picking outfits can be stressful. Sure, you may want to pull your hair out a couple of times while you’re trying to walk out the door (I’m looking at you Mama). But I promise you it is so worth it!
I adored Jen from our first email exchange… and then I fell in love with her family during this shoot. Literal perfection and the absolute sweetest humans 💛 Thank you for giving me a glimpse into this chapter of your lives and for trusting me to capture it!

Charleston welcomed us with 75 degrees and sunshine. We have spent our first days here eating some of our Southern favorites, enjoying a picnic along the waterfront and we've even spotted a couple of gators and dolphins! This place is easy to fall in love with 💛

Dear Senior… I will never get over how incredible and transformational this season of your life is. Bask in it. Soak up every bit of knowledge you can from people you look up to. Be all in with your friendships and avoid anything superficial. Time is way too precious. And speaking of time, some a little more with Mom, Dad, Grandpa and Grandma.
