Welcome Foxy to Second Chance Chi.

We fostered her through her stray hold through a local shelter and after her stray hold we took control of this sweet baby. She still needs to be spayed but other than being under weight when we got her she seems in good health. She is real nervous and scared around strangers and took us a week just to get her to come out from the other room. She is freaked out by going outside and is not potty trained so we will be working on socialization and potty training for this little one.

😭😭 RIP Sparky (aka:Chance)

We had to make the very sad decision yesterday to help our very loved first rescue sparky and Second Chance Chi mascot cross the rainbow bridge. He has suffered from a stage 5 heart murmur for the last 5 years and it just became to much for him to handle. Our little boy went into heart failure and the vet and us decided it was time for our sweetheart to cross.

You will be greatly missed little man and thank you for the wonderful 8 years you so lovingly shared with me. And the great guy you were with the SCCR rescue dogs. We will meet again my little man.

Update!!! Casey has been found and is home safe and happy. Thanks to everyone who prayed and offered help to bring our Delaware Casey home. We are so happy.

Update on our sweet Hercules!!

Herc is doing so good on his Cushings meds. His sores are all healed up and his hair is coming in nice and thick.

As a matter of fact, Herc is doing so well we have found him the perfect forever home with the perfect family. They have fallen in love with our little Cushings man and will be taking care of his medical issues going forward.

Herc has another Cushing's test in July to check his levels and we will be meeting his great new family at the vet's so we can turn his vet files over to them for his ongoing medical treatments. We will update Hercs condition, levels, and how he is doing in his new, best forever home after his appointment.

Our resident evil Oliver, (aka: bursky burr).

If you all remember Oliver, he came to SCCR with two broken legs. After 5k in surgeries and lots of physical therapy he still has issues with his legs. He has times where he can not walk on his front left leg. We are still hoping he will not lose his leg in the future.

Update on Herc!!!

Herc went in for another Cushings test on the 9th. His cortisol levels are still high so his vet doubled his Cushings meds to twice a day instead of once. He received some antibiotics for a slight skin infection do to the Cushings. He also received his vaccines that were do this month.

On a good note, his sores have started to heal up and his itching is not quite as bad and his hair looks like it is starting to come back and get thicker.

He still has a long way to go but we are doing the best we can for this little guy.

Herc update!!

Herc is so glad to be home from the vet and was able to eat his dinner and go potty.

He had his two week Cushings test and the levels looked good so far. He will have to go back in a month for another test to see if his meds will need to be adjusted. His vet also done a chest xray for his little heart. His resting breath rate is good but she thinks he may have some issues because he coughs a lot. We need to wait for the xrays to come back from the radiologist.

Update on Herc!!

I have my 2 week Cushings test today and I'm at the vets now and I'm hungry because I had to fast for my test. But at least it will only be four hours instead of eight this time.

There are people trying to bash my rescue and my caretaker to prevent me from getting the help and vet care I need. That's ok because my caretaker will take care of me anyways, that's what he does. There is no evidence of missing dogs and there is proof to prove otherwise. If you chose to believe the hate people are spreading, that is your choice but we will continue to do what we do at our Utah location. We help dogs not spread lies and hate to ruin others trying to help and put dogs at risk.

If you have no proof of the hate being tossed around and just want to bash, just stay off our page. We got better things to do.

Update on Herc!!

Herc started his meds for his Cushings disease, so far he is doing good and has had no bad reactions to the meds.

He has an appointment in about two weeks to have his levels checked again to see if the meds need to be adjusted and if they are working.

He wants to thank everyone for your support to help him get well. Future updates to come.

Update on Herc!!!

Hercs vet called today to update us on his Cushings test. Poor guy, his last test yesterday came up with an error so he has to go back in Friday to be retested. These are the itchy sores all over his poor body. We feel so bad for him.

His vet said the first test came back ok and and with the numbers she said it is more than likely this poor guy does have Cushings.

She said unfortunately since the last test came back with an error he will have to be retested because if they don't get the numbers right so they can correctly prescribe the meds and if they get them wrong it can be fatal and take this poor guys life.

We are hoping his next test on Friday goes well so we can get this guy on the correct meds with the correct dosage and help him feel better. He has been going through this way to long.

Herc wants to thank everyone for the continued support in helping him get better. He knows in the end it will all be worth it and you have all been great in his recovery.

Update on Herc!!!

Herc went to the vet today for a day long visit for a Cushings test to see if he has Cushings.

His wonderful vet says if he does have Cushings it will not be what is causing his itching but may be an underlying cause of an immune deficiency that could be causing an issue that could be causing the itching and hair loss.

He is on other meds at this time to see if we can get the itching under control and maybe spending the day at the vets they can come up with some more ideas as to why he has this itchy skin condition.

His vet bill for today will be about $200.00 for the Cushings test and any help to cover these costs so we can get Herc on the road to recovery would be great. Herc thanks you all for your continued support. ❤💙💚
