Hidden Treasures Childcare

Hidden Treasures Childcare is an education through play. My name is Denise Herrera I own Hidden Treasures Childcare. I loved it.

I have been working in with children since I was very young. I first started as a teen as a Bi-lingual teacher aide for the St Vrain Valley working in the migrant summer school program. The parents were so responsive to their children being in school with a great educated staff while their children received an education. This was a program started by Former Lt. Joe Garcia, Fredrico Pena and Ricar

do Garcia. These, men and I recently spoke at a fundraiser to help keep programs open for the poorest children in our school system. We were raising money to help childcare providers with a program to provide the CDA or otherwise known as “The Child Development Associate” open for low income families wanting to raise children through education. I have been a licensed provider since 1986. A mothering style helps raise and educate our community’s children. It has been and honor and privilege to serve Longmont’s children. I wanted more for our children I wanted children to be raised and educated in family units not just taken away from their siblings into classrooms never knowing or learning alongside their siblings. This helps create a greater family bond because these children know one another. They learn from older children here and they learn how to have a loving relationship with infants and toddlers. My families say that now their children no longer fight because they know who their sibling is. It greatly befits our children when families remain with families. I have a preschool time set into my program and I work on all the basics they will need when they start kindergarten. Program promotes basic concepts like manners, empathy, learning how to eat at a table and ask to be excused, educated in a manner that matches their own level and skill, they learn consequences for actions using the Love and Logic principles. I teach my children lifelong skills such as; developing and following a routine, math, language (English and Spanish), writing, art concepts (cutting with scissors, coloring). We have free play time play room, planned educational classroom work, a library reading area, we learn to read, learn site words, the alphabet, counting, colors and shapes. I also focus on teaching your child personal skills such as; listening , cleaning up when transiting to other activities, waiting their turn, raising their hand when needing help, and interaction with children of different ages. I use several recourses to provide a well-rounded educational program including; 123 Learn Curriculum, Mailbox, ABC Mouse.com. We maintain current CPR, Medication Administration, and Health and Safety courses to further benefit the children in my care. My playground has a Rainbow Play System with a solid rubberized surface. Our outside activities set up with safety and fun in mind. I have fence that go around the whole childcare area.

My dad gave me this advice a long time ago when I moved into my first apartment. He even came out and changed the screws for me as soon as I moved in. Someone else recently posted about it and I thought I would share!
A good home security tip that you may have never thought about.... Most contractors install the plates with the supplied screws which are only a half inch long and come out with one kick by a burglar. He installed 4 inch screws in their place that go through the door frame and into the framing of the house. They can kick for a long time before they get tired! You can see in the picture the screw in his hand is the screw supplied with the door hardware. Making a burglar make a bunch of noise and be foiled in their initial plan can not only give you time to arm yourself but they will most likely move on to an easier target.

"As I was coming home from Baton Rouge one of my tires blew out. I was freaking out trying to desperately find someone at the gas station to help. I so happened to look over and see a Sherriff pumping his gas, so I walk over and kindly ask him if he could help since I was alone and 4 hours from home. He looked at me and kind of brushed me off as if he had better things to do. This gentleman in the picture named Klennis overheard and saw that the cop wasn't interested in helping me and said "come on I will help you". Klennis knew the tire wasn't any good anymore. I thought I had a spare in the trunk but sadly I did not. Long story but Klennis was able to retrieve a new tire at wall mart and managed to get the tire off the rim to replace it with the new tire. Klennis's son and another young man were able to help the process along. God was truly watching over me on my delay home. Angels come in all shapes and sizes. Klennis worked 2 continuous hours trying to get me back on the road. He mentioned having a 21-year-old daughter and expressed that he would wish the same for her if she were in my position. I felt truly fortunate to resume my journey and reach home safely. Klennis Anders if you guys happen to run into Klennis please tell him what a wonderful man he is! My family truly appreciates the selflessness this man offered upon me."
