Great learning experience with James Richards workshop in New Bern. Highly recommend to any oil painter-especially if you’re kinda new to oil like me.

He definitely showed me lessons in this painting. Haha. It has more work with the lessons I learned. So appreciate his approach to teaching -

Each master artist workshop with a great instructor that shares info, will have an influence in your work and every artist takes some different knowledge from it.

I have had many masters that have influenced my work. I plan to continue to put that knowledge to my new works this year. Still have another half year to go.

Ps-It was only half finished at time of photo. Worked on it allot more but never photographed it. He showed me lessons on it so i have to rework many areas. Great lessons. Also another great instructor is Beck Fine Art-grateful for my experiences with them both.

So happy this one sold and the customer shared the finished hanging placement with me. It’s for her new home! 👏👏👏

It is quite the experience of having four days of painting. I’ve never gone longer but would love to. I saw each day I achieved more. I definitely learned my legs and feet get stiff so have to mix it up with some sitting.

I was happy I created 3 watercolors,one acrylic and one oil. This was only my third oil painting created outside. Five paintings total.
Painting outdoors makes it fun when the weather is as gorgeous as it was this week. Personally I will just do it more on a whim. Play with the mediums and see what I like best -

Also the group of artists were terrific and so nice to see them again. 👏👏👏

All the art is heading back to Clayton for now to, Heart2Hands Art Gallery and Studios for some tweaking - but can be delivered easily to WB area anytime.

They may be on display soon at Beck Fine Art. Come see us for fourth Friday inside The ArtWorks-Wilmington on 24th and Last Friday May 31st in Clayton.

All and all-for me no mishaps of easels turning over-no sunburn-everything went great-except I might be allergic to Gamsol when it touches my skin. 😞very itchy and then red welts. Will take more notice. Try other solvents. Someone suggested mineral spirits.

I’m Enjoying the beautiful weather kicking off our Wrightsville beach paint out. I’ll share some photos along the way.
Here is a beginning of a painting I will complete soon. I painted live Raleigh City Farm a couple weeks ago. I never even took a reference pic so I had to go back and snap a few shots so I can finish and sign it. Will post finished piece in several weeks.
Off to Harbor Island Garden Club to begin my Wrightsville adventures for the garden clubs fundraiser this Saturday May 4 from 10-4. Free parking and over 20 artists attending.

It was a fun reception put on by Fine Arts League of Cary in Durham at Golden Belt Arts center -glad to be spreading my wings a little in the art world. Here’s what was juried into the show. I’m glad my health has improved to have more energy and less pain. Amen-thanks be to God! 🙏🏻’n it continues. ❤️👏

So grateful to have time to paint a small watercolor for my long time friends I’m visiting in MD. This is her husbands’s mom’s hometown in Italy.
My bestie from middle school even painted with me. Hers was a doodle but the memories of us painting together will last.
I’m so happy to gift this to them. Finally!-it’s been on my “want to do this painting for them” list after all the nice hospitality they have shown many of us over the years.

As the Holidays come to a close, I think of the year and what’s ahead. First, I’ll create a website for my art (long overdue) but also make time to create new paintings from the many awesome trips I’ve taken. Some decades ago.
I think I’ll begin with our Hawaii trip from 2022. I’ve been thinking about how blessed we were to do that trip! Mostly how incredible the scenery was-now, sadly how downtown Maui was destroyed this fall by a raging forest fire-
we have great memories from mostly Maui and Kauai -Molokai was unique and there’s 1-2 paintings I can paint from it. Busy Honolulu-I think I saw a turtle in the surf that was cool.😎 also want to paint memories from Alaska, Tuscany, Seattle, Asheville, laguna beach, and key west. I think I’ll be busy. Hee hee.

I love to be challenged for a painting. My client brought me this image she wanted for a Christmas present for her husband. It was from a special place where they shared some special memories. Night scene. We were both pleased how it turned out-loved it-it was hard to let go :)

It was painted on a 11x14 canvas panel and available Heart2Hands Art Gallery and Studios. I will get a few black 11x14 frames to have on hand.

Was asked to be a guest for Raleigh City Farm for their fundraiser. It was so much fun and my painting sold at the live auction. First time painting when the sun went down and first time starting and finishing in oil on site!
👏👏👏what a lovely experience and love the farm. Hope to come back to paint during the day!!!

I don’t usually take workshops but this one was great. I have always wanted to study with Dan Beck from Wilmington. I got to do that yesterday and today. We had the best class Heart2Hands Art Gallery and Studios. Everyone did such a phenomenal job. Can’t wait until he comes back for hopefully 3 day workshop. So happy these classes are in my hometown of Clayton, North Carolina.

So sad to hear the news about Joe! He was a kind-hearted, generous, funny and very talented artist and business man.
I had the pleasure of meeting him several times and always enjoyed his lively personality. He will truly be missed. It’s super sad when a great guy like him passes!!! RIP Joe! You gave so much to the world of ART in so many ways! 🥲
