My Mom's Mom spent her spare moments throughout my childhood knitting, tatting, and sewing. She created the braided rugs now in our homes from old wool pants and skirts; they were hand-cut, hand-dyed, and then hand-sewn. My Dad's Mom crocheted gorgeous plant stand doilies and sewed together rag rugs from old clothes. So my family has been upcycling materials for our handmade crafts for decades now
