It Only Takes A Prayer
Max Lucado
You are valuable just because you exist! Remember that the next time some trickster tries to hang a bargain basement price tag on your self-worth. Just think about the way Jesus honors you, and smile. I do. I smile because I know I don’t deserve love like that. None of us do. When you get right down to it, any contribution any of us makes is pretty puny. All of us, even the purest of us, deserve heaven about as much as that crook on the cross did.
It makes me smile to think there’s a grinning thief walking the golden streets of heaven who knows more about grace than a thousand theologians. No one else would have given the thief on the cross a prayer. But in the end, that is all he had. And in the end, that’s all it took. No wonder they call Jesus a Savior.

The Clouds of Life
By Billy Graham •
“The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way.”
—Exodus 13:21, NKJV
Clouds will come. They are part of life. But by God’s grace we need not be depressed by them. Just as clouds can protect us from the brightness of the sun, life’s clouds can reveal the glory of God, and from their lofty height God speaks to us.
Like the children of Israel, we are travelers to the promised land. As they traveled through the wilderness, the Bible says, “The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way.”
Perhaps, like them, you are passing through a wilderness right now. It may be the wilderness of a broken marriage, or a financial reversal, or a major disappointment, or a threatening illness. It may even be a wilderness of doubt or sin.
But God is with you in the wilderness, and He goes before you to encourage and guide you. He brought the children of Israel through the wilderness—and He will bring you through it as well, as you look in faith to Him. Never forget: “He is the living God, and steadfast forever” (Daniel 6:26).
Hope for Today
The children of Israel knew that the presence of God was in the cloud, and they only moved when it moved. We can view our clouds the same way; God is still with us, and we wait for Him to move.

“He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.”
—Hebrews 5:9, NKJV
With the exception of Jesus, no one in the Bible probably endured more scorn than Noah. Told to build an ark to escape God’s judgment, we read that “Noah did; according to all that God commanded him” (Genesis 6:22).
Can you imagine what his neighbors said? Can you picture them shaking their heads and laughing, calling him a fool and murmuring he must be out of his mind? Can you envision them angrily rejecting his warnings of coming judgment and returning to their idolatrous ways (for 2 Peter 2:5 calls Noah “a preacher of righteousness”)?
But when the flood came, only Noah and his family were saved. For those who scorned his pleas, it was too late.
You and I are called to proclaim a message that often seems foolishness to an unbelieving world—the message of the Cross. Will everyone accept it? No. Will some mock us? Yes. But never stop sharing the gospel, for it is still “the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16, NIV).
Hope for Today
Is there someone you’ve neglected to share your faith with because you feared their response? If you care about them at all, you will risk it. Great will be your reward in Heaven (Matthew 5:12).

HELP
WHY?
"On the street I saw a small girl cold and shivering in a thin dress,
with little hope of a decent meal. I became angry and said to God:
'Why did you permit this? Why don't you do something about it?'
For a while God said nothing. That night he replied, quite suddenly:
'I certainly did something about it. I made you.'"
Ya girl is in the place. What place you say? Big news coming up the pipe for Battered But Not Broken Ministry and Friends Who Like Battered But Not Broken Ministry..
NARR is national and SCARR is of South Carolina. Shot out to my board of directors of BBNB for allowing me to embark on this new journey. Wyonia Hinton, Tyra Renee, Sharon Simmons, Kate Bledsoe, Nannie Long, Sandra Darby. Sally Jane, community members, Bill Floyd, Alex Oliphant you all have been very instrumental and supportive to the work done here since 2009.
You guys and others will be even the more proud to see this organization step up to another level.
The Struggles of Life
Billy Graham
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree ...
—1 Peter 2:24
All life is a struggle—that is the nature of things. Even within our physical bodies, doctors tell us, a conflict for supremacy is going on. The bacteria in our bloodstream are waging a constant war against alien germs. The red corpuscles fight the white corpuscles constantly in an effort to maintain life within the body. A battle is also raging in the spiritual realm. “We fight,” the Bible says, “against the rulers of the darkness of this world.” Darkness hates light. I have a dog that would rather dig up a moldy carcass to chew on than to have the finest, cleanest meal. He can’t help it—that is his nature. Men cannot help that it is their nature to respond to the lewd, the salacious, and the vile. They will have difficulty doing otherwise until they are born again. And until they are changed by the power of Christ, they will likely be at enmity against those who are associated with Christ.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
When I consider the work of Jesus on this earth—which led to His supreme sacrifice—I pray all my labor this day will glorify You, my beloved Savior.
The Proper Proportion
By Billy Graham •
“Do not love the world or the things in the world.”
—1 John 2:15, NKJV
Christians are warned not to love the world—but what is worldliness? Some have misunderstood it.
Worldliness is an attitude, a spirit, an atmosphere that permeates the whole of human society. It is an attitude that puts self first and ignores God and His commandments. Its horizon is this present world, and it never gives a thought to God or to eternity. It exhibits itself in a thousand different ways—in habits, in selfish pleasures, in a grasping for material things, in driving ambition, in exalting oneself at the expense of others.
We must avoid everything God has labeled sinful; of that there can be no doubt. But some elements of daily life aren’t necessarily sinful in themselves; they only become sinful if they are abused. Pleasure isn’t always wrong—unless it is abused. Ambition is an essential part of true character—but if abused it can destroy us.
Be on guard, lest a spirit of worldliness creep into your life. The Bible warns, “Do not love the world or the things in the world.”
Hope for Today
Is there anything attempting to take the place of God in your life? That thing will begin consuming more of your time, energy, and thoughts. May the meditations of your heart be acceptable in His sight.
