Excited to share our new speaker - "Marta Merrick - The Hearts of Horses"
As an holistic care educator, Marta empowers equine caregivers to listen and follow their intuition while teaching them how to provide exceptional, preventive care for their horses.
As a former barefoot hoof care professional for many years, she has created an online, go at your own pace course to help those interested in learning to trim their own horses. Extra support and encouragement is given through a private FB group designed specifically for the course.
With a great understanding of how connected the emotions and the body are, Marta has also created a mini- course to help horse owners begin to understand the connection between their horses emotions and their effect on the body with the goal of releasing these problematic emotions.
Having completed three course levels in clinical aromatherapy through the Institute of Spiritual Healing and Aromatherapy, she leans on the power of Young Living Essential Oils for much of her care and teachings. She is currently a Level 2 Practitioner with the Healing Touch for Animals program and believes this is one of the most important additions to her holistic care work.
As the host of the FB community, The Hearts of Horses; Empowering Through Holistic Care, she is passionate about sharing with others so that they will enjoy the confidence to care for their animals in ways that feels right to themselves.

Do your small animals a favor, if you have horses and still use paste wormers, consider holistic care alternatives that are safe and effective…
https://martamerrick.com/blog/31934/what-are-some-holistic-care-options-for-deworming-
PSA- Meet Callie. Callie, being a normal young farm dog likes to eat things she finds. Callie ate some horse p**p last weekend and ended up hospitalized. She had toxic levels of ivermectin in her body from eating p**p from recently dewormed horses. The dewormer goes through the horse and remains intact in the horses’ f***s. Callie presented with neurologic signs including stumbling, twitchy eyes, nausea, and vomiting. All her bloodwork and x-rays were normal. After doing some investigating, the doctors figured out she had been exposed to potentially high levels of ivermectin. Callie was treated with supportive care and intralipids to pull the toxins out of her brain. She is feeling a lot better and headed home today. Just a warning- ivermectin horse dewormers can affect ANY breed of dog or cat (some are even more susceptible) for approximately 5 to 7 days AFTER deworming if the p**p is ingested. Make sure to appropriately dispose of any used dewormer tubes and make sure any pets have little to no access to horse p**p after deworming.
