I wasn't advertising Father's Day gifts this year with setting up the new laser and enjoying family time, but through word of mouth I made a couple of custom designs.

UPDATE: laser is up and running and working well. We are ready to take on new projects.

The new laser is almost set up. I have a few things to do this weekend on it and we should be rolling. I was able to do a few test engravings and cuts this evening and it’s going well so far. A few more adjustments and couple of upgrades to come but hopefully by the end of the weekend I’ll be running some jobs.

This bad boy is 20x28 inches with extension doors which means I can run larger jobs in either dimension if needed. This is a large improvement to the small 8x12 co2 I was working with and a huge bump in speed compared to my larger diode laser. Depending on the job, I will still be using the others.

J is joining the team, she will helping with lasering, painting and social media. Look for a future post about this change.

We did a thing, Hemlock Woods is growing. We are getting ready to take on larger projects. Thank you so much Scott and Brock Rinz on getting the new machine to the basement for me.

Mother’s Day is coming up quickly, stop by Twisted Roots Marketplace for your last minute gifts. These were dropped off at the shop last week. I can make a couple more by request.

End of the year sports banquets and events? These can be made with any sport or school with matching (as close as possible) bead.

It has been a while, but here is the newest project. 2024 with a name. You choose the colors. $30 each for 23.5” wide. These are great for photos or signatures. With or without tassel.

Last project of 2023. These are 6” sport rounds. These were made for a customer and I will be selling them going forward. $10 each, can do most popular sports. Names can be added. Could also be made smaller and a magnet added.

Merry Christmas to all! Thank you for a great year, you all have been wonderful in supporting my small business. I feel like many of you have grown with me the last couple of years and have become more than just customers but friends and I appreciate all of you. The shop is officially closed as of yesterday for the rest of the year. I’ll be back at it starting mid-January. Until then, have a great holiday.

Pushing the last day to order ornaments until Wednesday. The last pickup time will be Saturday. Depending on the time of order, I can usually have them ready the next day. What is a Santa tracker? The QR Code, which you scan from your phone, will take over to NORAD, the official Santa Tracking site that has been around for years as a way to see in real time where Santa is. All your child has to do is scan the code on the ornament and follow him along. Santa is coming to town! $8 each

Now available to purchase, Michigan stadiums. These stadiums are engraved into the wood and have 3D layered letters and borders. Stadiums are approx. 10x10 and come with a collapsible stand. I’ll have the Lions Ford Field and Spartan Stadium available next week. $40.

The answer to your question is yes, I do make custom ornaments by request. Depending on the request, it might be possible to 3D cut or for more detailed designs, engraved. If you are looking for something similar, please reach out.

I had a customer order both, Go Michigan! 🤓 This engraving and the 3D elements sit on a stand and measures approx. 10x10. The letters, stadium border, and edges are all raised. At this time, this is the largest I can make them. Next week I should have a sample for the Lions Ford Field and the Spartan stadium. These are made as ordered. $40 includes stand. I may be able to do other stadiums as well by request.

Who is Hemlock Woods? My name is Justin Bamberg and run a small weekend/evening shop in Hemlock making laser cut/engraving art and other handmade wood products. This page was called Bamberg Woodworking before I started doing more art projects. I posted my first photo on this page in 2017 of a geometric wall art piece I did sometime in 2016 where it all began.

I first started by making pallet wood projects and furniture and couldn't get into it so I switched to art-related projects which fall more in my creative background. I made a lot of crafty items but what I enjoyed the most was the geometric wall art. Other projects I have enjoyed making are wood lamps and wood-burnt flags.

Before owning a laser, I posted my first 3D-printed Hemlock map in 2021. I loved the idea of making more 3D elements for art rather than function, but that flopped fairly quickly. The machine was too sensitive and just took too long to make things. So, in September of 2021, I purchased my first laser. Sawdust Days 2021 I was a vendor and showed my geometric wall art, flags, and some of the first laser-engraved maps and small blocks of engraved wood pieces. The laser stuff sold quickly and I ran with it.

From the end of 2021 through 2022 I centered mostly on laser cutting and engraving projects. I created a lot of custom artwork and combined what I love about wood, flags, and maps and was able to create a lot of amazing artwork for our community, fire, and police, as well as many Hemlock and surrounding area customers and friends.

In 2023, the shop took a long break but came back in October starting the holiday ornament season. I love making ornaments, we have all kinds available. Dogs, cats, sports, religious, funny, baby, new home, general, and an array of custom-made ornaments by suggestions from all of you.
