This past weekend, members of the Helm team participated in the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers - Rock River Chapter 65th Annual Golf Outing! ⛳ We're proud to have been a sponsor of this event, which helps support local students and scholarships.

Did you know? According to a study referenced in a February 2024 New York Times article, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that the construction industry has the highest death rate due to drug overdose. Shockingly, in 2020, there were over 162 overdose deaths per 100,000 construction workers.

These statistics are alarming, which is why we are committed to supporting organizations like Rosecrance, a private, not-for-profit organization providing comprehensive, evidence-based addiction and mental health services. We at Helm believe in their mission and are proud to have supported their recent Sneaker Ball.

Our team members, Tom Matus (current Rosecrance board member in Chicago) and Kevin Churney, attended the event on our behalf, donning their black-tie attire and fresh kicks! 👟👟 Together, let's raise awareness and support organizations like Rosecrance in combating addiction and promoting mental health in our industry. "Keya enrolled in Goodwill’s Accelerate program to obtain her CNA. Keya worked so hard to finish the program and achieve good grades on her exams. She successfully completed the program, passed her state exam, and is currently employed as a CNA!

“I appreciate Goodwill for offering this CNA course and helping me to continue to reach my goal of a better future," said Keya. "This program is awesome and the support I get from the Accelerate team continues to push me and encourage me to succeed in life. I thank them for giving me the opportunity. Never give up!”

Goodwill Mission Success Stories like Keya's are why we're passionate about supporting Goodwill Northern Illinois, and are looking forward to their annual golf outing on May 13!

Erica has been in the industry for over 20 years in business development and sales roles for mechanical contractors and plant services companies. She brings a wealth of experience and deep network that will serve our Industrial team well. Erica is also a member of the MCA of Chicago’s Industrial committee.
