Flags are flying at half staff across our state and country today to remember our brave firefighters during the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. When everyone runs from the flames our firefighters run into them. We honor those who gave their all.

Inflation is taking a toll on nonprofit organizations that our communities depend on!

Long post but I hope you take the time to read:

I have to be honest for a minute- our ministry is currently struggling. I know it has not been a easy year with inflation and I also know that we are not the only non-profit going through this.

On top of our current store needs- we have monthly operational bills (phone line, storage unit, bookkeeping services). We try and meet real needs of LOCAL foster families if a need arises or a child enters care. We also have our biggest event of the year coming up where we already have over 100 kids signed up!

I know the Lord is good and He is the ultimate provider but I just felt led to share these struggles that have been going on for quite sometime within our ministry.

We cannot continue without support! I ask that you pray how you can get involved! If you would like to call me- I can answer any questions you may have about us. If you want to come by our store and see what we do- we invite you to join us! If you would like to give monetarily- that would be a HUGE blessing to us and I will post those details below. Thank you for reading and I pray that the Lord would show you how you can get involved in serving alongside us!

This is a beautiful opportunity to serve cancer survivors!

This lovely group and a few others sent out over 2,800 knitted knockers in July from Bellingham, WA. The largest July ever. That is a lot of sorting, sizing, stuffing and shipping. It's amazing what a small group of dedicated volunteers can do when they know they are making a difference. "Headquarters" of knittedknockers.org. (System wide over 12,000 were sent out in July by the hundreds of similar groups).

According to the Gallup Organization in their 2016 Global Civic Engagement Report, billions worldwide are giving back to their communities. In 2015, nearly 1 billion people worldwide volunteered their time, 1.4 billion donated money to charity, and 2.2 billion helped a stranger in need in the past month, often at high risk. Why do people give back to their communities? Most everyone can agree that helping others just plain feels good, and helps the giver as well as the receiver. Other surveys point to an increased sense of well-being and reduced feelings of stress in those who volunteer in their communities. Volunteers also develop a sense of unity, collaboration, and friendship with others as they provide service.

How does one begin to find volunteer opportunities? What if you only have a few hours a week or month to participate in volunteer activities? A new website called “JustServe.org” is the perfect solution to help you find a project to work on. www.JustServe.org is a free nationwide website for volunteers to find service opportunities and nonprofit organizations to list their needs. Just enter your zip code to find local needs. Presently, there are over 30 service opportunities listed in the greater Huntsville/Madison, Alabama area. There are a variety of needs you can participate in from walking dogs or playing with cats at an animal shelter to delivering food to homebound seniors.

Scatter a little sunshine in your own life and the lives of others. Check out the www.JustServe.org website today. You can also download the app on the Apple App Store,or Android app Google play.
