It has taken me a while to write these words, as I am not sure I had them inside me to write them down until this day. So much has happened over the past year! I am beginning to peel the layers back. Finally. I am opening my heart in this post, just as I have opened the door to my life for all of you, my followers. Here is the core of the onion that all the layers are surrounding: this past year was a beast. I am so tired. I have been humbled through my treacherous experience of hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) during my entire pregnancy with my daughter. I was still reeling through postpartum with my son when HG with my daughter’s pregnancy hit. I was hanging on by a tethered thread. This fragility and turmoil I experienced during my pregnancy seemed to have transferred to my sweet baby girl who has suffered from one medical complication to the next. My family will always be my priority, and because of that, my career sometimes will take a back seat. The love I have for my career, my staff, and my clients is undeniable, but...the love I have for motherhood is paramount. I am so sad to see some of my employees leave Crafted, but understand that we all must see if the grass is truly greener on the other side. I appreciate the staff that has given me grace as I navigate both motherhood and being a business owner. Their loyalty and hard work ethic have not gone unnoticed and are gravely appreciated. With all that said, this year has changed me. I’m not quite sure all of it has solidified into something meaningful quite yet, but I am beginning to peel the layers back. Slowly. What I know so far is that this year has been both humbling and revealing. Humbling in the sense that I now know my limit. Revealing in the sense that I have seen the true character of others and myself. I’m rebuilding myself, as all of us mothers have to do in postpartum. One brick at a time. 🤍
