Sarah's Mad Batter

I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported my buisness. I wanted to share the reason I am no longer capable of operating the buisness. For the past decade I have struggled with my health. With time, my symptoms progressed and became so severe, it was hard to function. I was in such pain that for a period of time I could barely get out of bed. We had exhausted so many paths from doctors to medications, surgeries and diagnoses and still could not figure out what was wrong with me.

My husband then found a genetic sequencing company who is the most advanced in the world. It is called Sequencing.com. The lab is located on the east coast I believe. We paid to have my entire panel run. Best thing we have ever done. After receiving the results, we were able to get the answers we couldn't figure out before. I also started going to Sweetwater Holistic who helped detox my body from heavy metals, parasites and help my body naturally heal. I feel like I have my life back. But due to what I have now been diagnosed with, I continue to have flares and need to do less physically invasive things. My heart struggles and I am no longer in a place where pushing through physical work is safe.

I have been diagnosed with POTS and EDS. I have a larger then normal aortic valve. If I stand for too long I pass out. They are working and running more tests to try and figure out what variation of EDS I have, to rule out some of the more serious variations that are possible. We suspect the VEDS and are currently testing to rule in or out that possibility.

I also have a genetic variant for cancer. All cancers. Highest risks include colon, stomach and liver.

We started doing screenings and testing for those due to symptoms I have had for some time and then learning my genetic risk. They have found 2 small tumors on my liver. They are hoping they are benign, and will do more scanning in 6 months to see if they grow or not. I also had a colonoscopy preformed and they only had to remove 2 small polyps. We are still waiting for results from those but we are pretty hopeful it will return ok.

I want to start spreading awareness of POTS and EDS. I have joined a support group and for so long, so many who struggle with this not new, but newly recognized syndrome for which there is no cure, get gas lit and the run around. I encourage everyone to get their genetic sequencing done. It will help you prevent serious things. Plus you also find out what medications don't work for you, which ones are potentially dangerous and by having your information, you can hopefully live longer lives because you have answers. I am grateful that this company exists. I am grateful my husband found it. I am grateful for the few doctors that I have found that have been advocates and worked with me to help me get answers.

To anyone who sees me, I look like a normal healthy mom. We never know what people are going through. I am almost in constant pain. Severity ebbs and flows. My heart hurts almost all the time. Breathing can be difficult. I just try to take it easy and do not rush life.

I truly am grateful to all of you who supported me while I was capable of working. You blessed my life. I hope to keep working, but will have to find other things that are not so physically involved. Here is to moving on to a new chapter. Thank you to everyone who made this last chapter so memorable and happy. I will miss working the large events and seeing everyone. I loved working with other vendors. I loved working with local shops who would sell my treats. You all played a large part in making Sarah's Mad Batter a success. Thank you all so much!
