Up early this morning and heading off the the best conference in the West! The man I was sitting next to on the plane referred to our early and late flight options in/out of Helena as the Montana tax, ha! I like that!

I just spent the last week off the grid in the Sea of Cortez on an expedition ship! We swam with whale sharks 🤯, sea lions, snorkeled crystal clear waters, kayaked, hiked, saw tons of wildlife, had beautiful beaches all to ourselves, ate great food and had an overall amazing time!!

Let's talk about locks! On European river cruise sailings you'll experience going through locks multiple times on your sailing. The locks help control water flow on the river and is like an elevator for the ship to take them up or down. In this lock we're going up. The ships enter the lock, once all ships are in the lock doors close, the lock fills up, once you reach the top, they open the doors on the other side and ships are allowed to continue through.
On most of the European river's the locks are much smaller and only allow one boat at a time. This is the largest lock I've been in, there were 7 boats in the same lock.
It's quite a feat in engineering and very interesting to experience!
