Slight increase, higher prices: Overall gross sales saw a 3% uptick from the month prior, with units sold declining 1%. In addition, the average retail sale price rose 4%. This suggests consumers are ready to buy, favoring higher-quality pieces.
Diamonds and gemstones reign supreme: The diamond category held steady, experiencing growth in gross sales (1%) and unit sales (1%). Meanwhile, colored stones and pearls saw a 2% increase in gross sales, despite a 2% increase in average retail sale price. This highlights the enduring appeal of precious stones for special occasions or investment purposes.
Softer demand for other categories: Silver and alternative metals once again saw declines in both sales and units sold. This could signal a temporary shift in consumer preferences towards diamonds and gemstones.
